cheap and tacky?

I do it all the time here in town. Sometimes I don't care for what is on the menu but I love appetizer's. So I may order 2 appetizers as my meal.

Not tacky, just what you want to eat

I can say that my mom and sister made an ADR for Ca Grill and wanted to just have dessert and drinks and they would not be seated because it was around firework time - they could, however, eat at the bar which is what they did. But the restaurant def has every right to refuse to seat you if it's prime dining time and you will be taking up a table and not eating/drinking as much as another diner.

I agree that taking a table during prime dinner time is not fair to the waiter assigned to you, nor other patrons - and may not be allowed anyways depending upon the restaurant. The bars are a great place to do just what you desire - I would plan for that! =)

I for one will not eat at the bar for any reason. I donot drink at all. I was hit by a drunk driver when I was a kid and I have major issues regarding alcohol. A local restaurant offered 1/2 price apps in the bar but we would always get a seat in the restaurant and order soda and buffalo wings. The restaurant never had a problem with it and we always left a better than average tip.

If you want to get apps and drinks or dessert - make your ADR and go for it. Last time I went there wasnt a rule for what was ordered nor a stop watch when you got seated saying you can only stay for X amount of time. :rotfl2:

I would be very upset to learn that Disney is now "force feeding" their guests.. I eat like a bird - and I could easily see myself going to dinner with the others in my group and having nothing more than a beverage.. However, if I were alone, I probably wouldn't take up a whole table for just myself if it were at a very busy time..

I say make an ADR and order what you like! If Disney is now into the business of force feeding, then they will definitely have problems. However, I seriously doubt that is or will be an issue. As many have mentioned, alcohol and apps sometimes end up costing the same or more than a full meal. And for those that are watching what they eat, how can a restaurant FORCE anyone to order more? Crazy! Even if you are seated at a table! Ridiculous!

Go have fun...eat what you want and don't let "those" people ruin your stay! After all, if "those" people didn't have this to complain about, they'd find something! ;) LOL

So again...go and order a drink, apps, whatever you want and enjoy! :)

Sorry, I can't remember who posted it, but someone said it wouldn't be fair to the server if a guest came in and ordered an app and a few drinks. As a server myself *though not at Disney, which would be great someday* I love the guest who come in and are "easy". Coffee and dessert, heck yes! During "prime dinner time" even better. I know my guest with their coffee and desserts are taken care of, while I'm dealing with the fussy child who keeps spilling his drink. Whew, what a relief.

If you've ever ordered drinks *which are at least $7 a pop* and apps *which can cost almost as much as an entre depending on what you order* you can and probably will be spending more than a normal family, and you'll be easier to deal with than the screaming kids and the frazzled parents.

Sit down and enjoy your dinner. Who cares what you order! I go out to eat way to much, and I never notice what people are eating. Heck, as a server I didn't notice that the guy at the table next to mine ordered THREE entrees, imagine how clueless I am when feeding myself.

I can't wait to go back to Rainforest Cafe in a month or so. There is a drink I am dying to try and a dessert which I couldn't stuff into my tummy. Mmmm. I'll be with my family who will order "real" food and feeding my 9 month old her dinner ...believe me, we take a long time to eat *just cleaning up after my daughter*, but we always tip well.

Wow, I think this thread hit a nerve

Cheap and tacky? No. I have done it here at home many times. Go and eat what you want :)
