Cheap accommodation on the beach?

Originally, we were going to leave WDW on Dec. 23rd and drive to Panama City Beach for one week (to stay with my mom). As it turns out, my father is quite ill, and my mom may not be going to Florida this winter.


We are now looking for inexpensive beach area accommodation (Dec. 23-30) an hour or two from Orlando (preferably gulf coast side, but doesn't really matter). We have no problems doing a time share presentation in order to secure an inexpensive rate. We prefer a motel room that offers a small kitchen (I think these type of units are called kitchenettes or one room efficiencies).

Any suggestions?????

I think I will also post this on the budget board and Orlando hotel board.

It's on the ocean side, but my family has been staying there for the past 10 years and we love it. Nothing fancy, but it's a great location, right on the beach and you can get the kitchenettes. Coral Beach Motel in Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona Beach (it's really the same place, just a road sign denotes the difference). I'm not sure if they have a web-site and I don't have the phone number handy, but try google search.

Is this the right web site???

The web site says it is located at 711 S. Atlantic Ave.
and has an indoor pool?

Also, you said you have been going for 10 years but on web site says it is the areas newest motel. I just want to make sure it is the same place as you were telling me about.

Looking at the web site it looks brand new (or maybe they are just using old pictures lol)

If so, it looks great. I will consider booking it if I have the right web site.

Only concern, I went to check out reviews on www.tripadvisor.com and could find 25 motels/hotels listed in Ormond Beach but this hotel not listed. Did it perhaps recently have a name change or something???

What else can you tell me about it?

Thanks again for all the info. The kids would love the indoor pool.
