Yes, she had a mastectomy last spring after her 2nd occurrence in the same breast. (The first time she had a lumpectomy, and I think that was about 10 years ago.) Now there's a small lump in the other breast. :guilty:

She seems to be dealing with it pretty well. Or maybe just putting up a good front, it's hard to tell sometimes. She said she'd call when she got word. Now I"m thinking it won't be until Monday, but I am hoping that's good news... Here's hoping anyway. :flower3:

 I hope your mom is okay. :grouphug:

I promised state fair pics...

VERY sweet, gooey , oozey.. not sure if we will add it to our yearly "must do" list.

After that I was exhausted.. and hot.. and hot and did I mention.. hot?

We went home.. skipping our "all you can drink milk for $1" .. we had just missed the shuttle.. had to wait .. in the sun.. UGH!

If it was a cooler day we would have stayed longer.

I think our top thing of the visit was the Eco Experience building-- that building is usually about science/industry.. some year better than others.. whoever sponsored this year did a bang up job!
Fun, interactive and educational for every age level. The boys visted each section, had to get a stamp.. answer a question on their "passport" and turned in for a compass. Nice freebie. :goodvibes
After that they walked while staring at the compass and shouted out.. we are now going NORTH.. no make that WEST.. EAST..

WEAST? Which way is WEAST?

For those of you not "in the know"... it's a joke from an episode of Spongebob. :upsidedow

Wow Bernice! Those are some cool pics and I'm glad you and your family had a good time :) That fried candy bar looks interesting. I have never seen anything like that here before....along with butter statues :rotfl:

Ahhh. I hate that stuff!

So what's on tap for tomorrow?

I know! He removed the spyware-this one was the worst. :sad2:

I'm not sure what we are doing tomorrow. We have dinner plans with my bf's mom and brother at a sushi place. She called us earlier and said she wanted to have dinner with us. :)

Are you doing anything fun tomorrow?

I think I might take DS8 to the GAP to try on size 8 Slim pants. I'm just not sure if I should order 8 Slims online (they're still on sale) because he's never worn Slim sizes before! :rotfl: :rotfl:

But the 8 Regulars just fall off him. :confused3

Better scoot off to bed myself. Good night! :cloud9:

Alex, Target and Walmart carry little boy jeans that have elastic adjusters inside. I bought them for DS all the time. That way you can turn them into "slims", yet let the elastic adjusters out because 2 months later they almost alway gain weight and turn into a "regular".:thumbsup2 I believe the Legendary Gold brand has them, as well as a few other generic brands. The jeans are actually fairly good for the price. They don't advertise them as such, but look inside the waistband, if you see a piece of elastic with a button then those are them. :thumbsup2 You just unbutton the elastic and pull it out further until you get to a notch where it fits comfortably.

Megan, that's a nice little starter house and it looks like a good size yard. Of course make sure that it's in a good neighborhood.

You might also want to call some local banks. Odds are they have lots of repossessed homes and you can buy them for about 30% below market value. So you might be able to get a much more of a home than you previously thought.

My boss & I met with one of our bankers for lunch the other day. He told us that he thought the mortgage crisis would continue for about another year, then bottom out. So it might pay to wait a few more months if you can. According to him, housing prices will continue to fall this winter.:thumbsup2

Tell me... if you didnt have a lot of money, and needed a started home.... WHat would you think of this house?

http://www.realtor.com/search/listi...1&sid=7aaa5a93267244dc9449c80541f43183&lsn=56

Meg, That is a cute house and I see some real potential in it. 6000 sq ft yard I can relate to because ours is about 6500 sq ft and we have a 1500 sq ft house with 3 bedrooms. your yard will be the same size. There is enough room for a playset and room to play in definitely. :thumbsup2

We still live in a starter house and are doing fine. The babies will be small for awhile and wont take up much space. I think the house is cute. Imagine a pretty flower bed out front and a tree planted for each of your children. As long as the neighborhood is safe I believe you can make any size house from 500sq ft to 4000 sq ft a home with love for your family.

Good Morning Shawna!! So have you posted any new updates to your Pre-Trip report? I read the original one, but haven't been back since.

OK, just went over and caught up on Shawna's PTR.

Shawna, you were talking about possibly going to CBR. Did you know that they also do a Pirate Cruise trip on the CBR bay? Not only that, you can walk from the Pop to the CBR. I could see the pop 70's rooms from my CBR room that was at the very end of the property.

OR better yet Shawna, you can stay at Pop and pay the cheaper rates, then walk over to CBR and use the new pirate pool! The length between the 2 hotels is not very long, but once inside CBR it could be a bit of a walk. But you can use CBR's internal bus system to get you right up to the pool.:thumbsup2

OMG!! Does this make me a pool hopper??:lmao: Good thing it's just the Hyena's on here or I'm sure I would get flamed!:rotfl2:

So my girl turned 8 yesterday. She had a blast.

The girls had fun in their costumes for the bollywood dance. They were so excited they got to keep them. We had a couple girls just flat out refuse to dance. I mean they would not even try. They were family friends that I was hesitant to invite anyway but felt obligated. They just hung out on the side and kept swinging on the ballet bar. I would have to come over and yell at them to get off of the bar so it didnt come crashing down. (I've known them since they were born so I can talk to them that way! :thumbsup2 ) Morgan doesnt play with them unless we get together with the parents so next year I think I'll skip inviting them to the party. Last year one girl kind of ruined the libby lu makeover day we had planned for Morgan. I wish I would have just brought her other friends. this girl was so obnoxious and the other girls did not know how to act in front of her. Its just tough when her parents are our good friends! Like, Oh, we are not having a party for Morgan this year. What do I day. Their birthdays are a day apart and we are going to hers today.

Other than that the party was a blast and the girls all 20 of them had fun. Morgan is so good about working a room and making sure each girl isnt left out. Some of them were from school and some from dance so it was important that they all felt comfortable. The dance girls were the shy ones surprisingly. I think they were thrown off by the wildness of the school girls.

Remember how I have always said I believe dance has made Morgan more mature and act not so crazy most of the time or out of control like the girls at school. All of her dance friends are like that, composed most of the time. Dont get me wrong they know how to be silly and have fun its just not so WILD I guess. I guess taking 5 hours a week of ballet learning how to be graceful ladies drills this into you. Anyway, they were all very kind and polite to the school girls but when it was freestyle dance during hip hop the school girls were going nuts jammin' the teacher was trying to get the company girls to dance but they were just staying on the back of the wall (not Morgan) We were laughing at it like they were all out of place with crazy kids in their studio. :lmao: They do freestyle dances in their classes and they go all out then but the school girls were hysterical not doing dance moves but like funny air guitars on their knees and jumping up and down. I just dont think the dance girls knew what to do. Like "this isnt dancing and they got all shy" :lmao: Most of the school girls had never been in a dance studio so they were so excited. The teacher kept telling the dance girls that this was the one time they could let loose, no dance moves had to be perfect, no critiquing no teaching, they were just to have fun and let loose. They might have been afraid to in front of their teachers. :lmao: :confused3 I seriously thought the opposite would happen.

Here are some pictures

Morgan with the hair prep! She slept in it so it would be cute. She will hate me later for it. I love Jake's little outfit here.

Showing off her new leo for the party.

we did the mean trick thing. She had asked for an ipod. She has been begging for at least 6 months for one. Not that it really matters because we wont be like this but she is one of the last of her dance friends to get one. They just plug them in there and all their music is loaded on. Its so easy. When music is your life 13 hours a week this comes in handy. Last year we bought her a cheap MP3 player and boy was that a mistake $65 bucks down the drain. I think of it this way that $65 bucks could have gone toward this. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I had all of her music on itunes and could not transfer it over to the new program I had to put on my computer for the MP3 player. So I had to make CD's then reload them into my computer on the new program and then type each song and artist. It took forever. Then the AAA batters lasted about an hour so that got expensive to keep replacing.

We thought about getting a $49 shuffle but like I said with her dance songs I wanted her to divide them up in playlists and find them easily on the screen instead of forwarding through. She is responsible enough I believe for this.

So, all of her friends have this one and she has been BEGGING for it. I mean BEGGING. I told her it would really be the only thing she got if she got it. Well, I went shopping for back to school clothes and didnt want her just to open 1 present so normally I would just give her the clothes of course but I wrapped them all up. She opened up 10 boxes of clothes. No toys no games nothing. Clothes. She loves clothes but she was looking worried. I've told her she cant always have what she wants but I knew this was a huge deal for her. Then the last box came and it was the "basics" box all white and black t-shirts, leggings and long sleeve stuff to go under her new clothes. Very boring. I said "That's it, lets get ready for dance" She looked so worried but didnt want to cry I could tell. She sweetly said thank you for everything and got up. I said "Oh, Jeff where is that other blue outfit we got her?" He said "maybe it fell in the closet" So he went to check and it was another clothing sized box. She opened it and it was a childrens place gift box outside and opened the tissue paper. Inside was the pink ipod, pink case and pink ear buds. She started crying (probably from relief) she was so happy!:lmao:

P1000953.jpg

Then from my mom she got Julie her 2nd American Girl doll. We told her that is it. No more. Those puppies are expensive. She loves her. She has the "just like me" one and now Julie. They both look like her! :rotfl: She also got tons of clothes for Julie and an American Girl suitcase.

This is actually a great picture because everyone is blurred but you can sort of see the costumes I had for the girls. They all had different colors for the Bollywood dance

Sorry so many pictures. :lmao: We just had a great day and wanted to share. :yay:

Good morning, hyenas!
Weirdish weather today. It's overcast but looks like the sun is doing its darndest to break through the cloud cover. But darker, thicker clouds are on the way, so I don't think it's gonna happen.

Just as well, since the temp is cool and I need to bake a cake! :cake:

Most of the little boys jeans seem to have that now. I bought 6 pair of GAP jeans (8 Reg) and even with those tabs cinched all the way (both sides!) they are still too big. Plus they look totally goofy all bunched up in the waist. :rotfl:

That's why I'm thinking he needs a Slim size, but I can't get over the fact that he's NEVER worn a slim size before, and he eats well so WTh???

Dang keyboard is on the fritz! Watch this:

If I yped sright through withou king ny corretons thiis wht he text would look lik!

OMG!! Does this make me a pool hopper??:lmao: Good thing it's just the Hyena's on here or I'm sure I would get flamed!:rotfl2:

Sorry I was posting that huge thing above me.

We've got the pirate cruise booked from the GF because I heard you stop at all of the marinas and its a lot more fun for the kids than the other resort pirate cruises so we would go for that one. I think they go on one of the islands too but not sure. :lmao: Jeff is disappointed he cannot go along! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I wanted to do CBR at the end of the stay but this morning I just checked and for Columbus day its sold out. Oh well. I guess we have Typhoon and Blizzard that I want to go to at least twice :cool1: Have you seen the pictures of the new pirate pool. Besides the little wet playground it doesnt look that much different than Old Port Royale pool. I think they kept part of the wall and added a longer slide (maybe) and added on but it had the same look in the pictures to me.

NEXT TIME we will stay there with the Pirate rooms and the Pirate pool and my husband will do something I cannot post on the DIS

Pool Hopping

 I hope your mom is okay. :grouphug:
Pix I just saw this. Thank you.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Shawna, I just marvel at your party ideas! What a great party this must have been! I also would have expected the school girls to be intimidated by the dance girls, but it makes sense that the school girls would not want to set one toe out of line at the studio and were probably confused when the WILD girls didn't get warned. :lmao:

Awesome costumes, what fun! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

OK, keyboard driving me nuts so I'll sign off. Have a great day, all!

Tell me... if you didnt have a lot of money, and needed a started home.... WHat would you think of this house?

It's cute, lacks curb appeal but you can fix that :goodvibes The back deck looks HUGE.

I had to laugh over Alex's concerns of sq footage, we live in a 2 bedroom that is less than 750 ft.. remember this is a family of four.

We didn't know what to do with ourselves in California, it was 1050 sq ft plus we had a patio. :woohoo: We thought we had hit the big time

As a starter it's fine, gotta start somewhere. :thumbsup2
Not sure how it is in your area, but a family of 6 has a difficult time finding rentals around here-- many of the owners limit 3 bedroom apts to 4 people, 2 bedrooms only 3 people. :headache: We just got lucky to find an owner who doesn't care about family size.

With a highschooler, we wouldn't want to move out of the district, but we can't afford the homes in this area.

Wouldn't mind a condo in the city once the boys are done with school.
My parents think "renting is just tossing away good money" but from what I have been reading-- plus hubby's health status -- investing in a house is not always the best choice in the current economy.

All of my family has been trying to convince my parents to sell and move into town. But the focus of "no renting" stuck in the brain has them paralyzed to act on a sell.. for fear that their housing budget would be higher. Considering the cost in gas to run to town, and the expenses in upkeep to maintain a lake property .. I think they will be just fine with a slightly higher house payment.

Condo would be ideal for them-- but I bet they would cringe and say it's not a good investment. They will be 70 next year and my dad has many health issues.
umm mom.. how many years do you expect you and dad to live there??? :confused3

 Someone stole our Sunday paper this morning.

Hubby was out there at 8 am and it was already gone, called for replacement paper which never showed up. :headache:

We have been in other buildings where the delivery person has a key, brings the paper to each apt door. For some reason they don't here, flopping it in front of the lobby door. Usually it comes in a plastic bag and they write our apt number on it. I wonder if they didn't this time and someone took it-- thinking it was up for grabs?

I can understand if it was still sitting there at night-- obvious the person isn't home to collect .. but that early in the morning is just plain rude!

It sucks because I know this week will have a ton of coupons, next week will have none because of the holiday.
