B's grocery list....

20 lbs. Filet Mignon (or whatever steak is most expensive)
PREMIUM ice cream
REAL butter
Live Lobster
Soda pop...yep, that's right and not the cheap generic stuff either. She's buying the individual cans of specialty sodas from the local fancy schmancy store.
:lmao::lmao::lmao:

And let's not forget that she'll be standing in line sneering at those "coupon ladies".:rotfl2:

Congrats B and Bon Appetit! It's about time you got some good news.

Morning and happy Friday!

YAY for internet Alison!! Enjoy!!

B glad you got your bennies!

We never did get the rain they were predicting yesterday so they were able to go to soccer and mom called and there was some famous chef that was in town lecturing and signing her cookbook. I have never heard of her but my mom says she is the mexican version of Julia Child. ??? I don't know but Katy wants to be a chef so she thought she might enjoy hearing her speak but by the time she tried to get tickets they were sold out and she had managed to get a signed copy of her book but that was it so we went to dinner last night and just picked up the book and then to desert at this really fun place downtown so it was still a fun night.

Now tonight the girls have their kids night out and the rain is finally supposed to hit and then tomorrow it is supposed to get worse so we may NOT have our soccer game remainst to be seen at this point. And the jury is still out about the haunted house thing. They are having a haunted version of our old governor's mansion and we have an "old" town downtown that they are doing some stuff so if mom gets home from Truckee at a decent time and it all works out we may go to that but I am not holding my breath cuz lately things have not always worked out but I would love to go so I hope it does! They esp have this AWESOME costume shop in old Sac that is really cool that I would love to show the girls so we'll see.

Anyway then on Sunday their neighborhood does a really cool hayride thing around the streets and all the kids in the neighborhood ride together and go to all the houses together. They usually have a potluck first and it is really fun. We have been doing it since the kids were little so I am looking forward to that and hope the weather cooperates. I just feel bad for Katy cuz she is going to be Cleopatra and with her cast her costume is going to be a bit compromised LOL.

So it should be a pretty fun weekend hopefully.

Shane let me know last night that our indoor soccer is starting already next Fri night. I was NOT thrilled about that I can tell you. It is NOT supposed to start until after thanksgiving. Usually the normal season ends the weekend BEFORE thanksgiving, then we have our end of year party and THEN indoor starts the weekend after thanksgiving. We ALREADY have a stupid tournament both weekends the first part of Dec and now this. Personally I think he is going way overboard with this crap this year. I mean we have been going NON-stop since last march with swim and then soccer and since he became head coach this year it has been a little over the top. I mean if we start indoor before the regular season ends that means they will be playing TWO games a week. Plus they usually don't like them to be out late on Fri nights when they have games on Saturdays but now they will HAVE to be since the games are on Fridays and the other games are on saturdays. UGH. Luckily it doesn't affect US much since Katy can't play and Shelby is leaving after next week but I still think it is stupid! Oh well what do I know!

Anyway I am off to work today. Hope you guys have a good day and stay warm, or dry or whatever the case may be. :)

Drive by hi!

Maybe make a sleeve to cover it and attach a stuffed animal of a black cat?
Hubby said "just write some hieroglyphics on her cast" .. I would think by now she has it signed, but maybe wrap it with a piece of cotton and have the hieroglyphics on that. Or cloth to wrap around and paint it with gold puff paint "bracelets" or something. Easy peasy! :thumbsup2

Heck I don't even know how to cook most of those things.
I knew I could count on you to find the humor in a crappy situation. ;)

I just had to use the word "Premium" ice cream. The Relish menu planning told me to get Premium ice cream for the dessert recipes...so being the ever so smart shopper I looked for Walmart's cheapest vanilla ice cream...and what do you know...the dessert tasted ok with the cheapo stuff!:rotfl2:

So I decided to go back to E-mealz. The Relish menu was good, but I was spending way too much time every night fixing dinner and it was getting stressful. I want to provide a homemade meal for my family, but eating at 8pm isn't going to work either. I just need something in between the two services. So I've decided to stick with E-Mealz and just tweak their menu to make it work better for my family. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the ideas for Katy's costume B although since it is pretty much sleeveless my mom is insisting I make her wear a shirt under it (rolls eyes) but I guess she is probably right. It prob will be cold by then. So at least that will cover the hot pink cast LOL. But it does stink a bit that it will kind of deflect from the whole costume cuz the ancient egyptians sure didn't wear turtlenecks LOL. Plus her costume came with these fabric things to go around the wrists and the upper arms but they made them SO tight I can barely get them on her. I probably will have my mom saftey pin them OVER the shirt since esp with the shirt on they probably won't fit. And then Shelby's costume has this big collar thing that is supposed to stand up in the back but it just flops over. I had asked mom if we could get some type of stays or something to insert in it to make it stand up but she has been so busy we never got around to it. So It prob won't stay up either but oh well they will have fun regardless. :)

Last night they went to their halloween kids night out and had fun. They got dinner there and watched a halloween movie and they did crafts and got a fun goodie bag and they really had a good time I think so I am glad. Our weather has been so crummy lately that most of the stuff we wanted to do has gotten rained out so I am glad they got to do that at least. And the good news is while it is raining NOW it is supposed to end by tomorrow so halloween should be rain free!! :)

At this point we are still on for tonight so hopefully nothing goes wrong. I am excited to see what it is about as we don't usually do a whole lot for halloween and I know the girls will love it so I hope that it all goes well.

Hope everyone has a good day today and weekend and have fun tomorrow for sure!! :)

Hiya guys! Hope everybody is having a great day...it's raining here. BLEECH. I stayed up late last night, so slept in until 9am today. I still haven't gotten dressed. DD was staying at a friends house last night, DS had his overnight halloween party with a friend at church, DH got up early and went hunting this morning.

I've been working on downloading new anti-virus software, microsoft updates, etc. to both computers and attempting to do housework. Our desktop is so old it's slower than molasses! We are thinking of getting DS a laptop for xmas. DD only uses the computer for her college classes, she's not into message boards, facebook or anything like that. So I'm debating on getting her one also. I think we would be better off getting her a GPS for her car instead. She's always getting lost and can't find places.:lmao::lmao:

Got a letter from SS, "while we determine the reconsideration and application for smaller payments ..." blah blah blah.. they will send the benefits each month starting with November.

The ball is rolling and we have benefits yet again. Crisis averted!
YAY!

We can now call the county and say keep your dang money for November :snooty:

Meanwhile, I have an email request into the clinic and will follow up on Monday to set an appointment for me. Use my medical before the re-certification is due .. and then I won't qualify. :upsidedow

Admit it, you missed going to the canned refrigerator biscuit aisle.

:rotfl:

Yeah, the E-Mealz would need major tweaking for me too. I'm going to run off the menus already sent and give to my sis. She might like that idea as she HATES grocery shopping and has this crazy busy schedule of running her kidlets all over town several nights per week. I happen to like shopping, the thrill of the hunt and the glory in coming home with some good deals. Cooking based on what I find on sale works for me, the only problem is we end up with limited choices sometimes. For awhile all I had was chicken in the freezer, I like chicken but it gets boring if that's ALL you have. Plus I got scatter brained focusing on the coupon deals that I forgot things like spreadable margarine/butter, popcorn for Justin, honey for my tea, tortillas, bread, cheese, celery, onions... you know the everyday food STUFF.

I tended to do the same thing with coupons also. Focus on buying stuff that was dirt cheap. It makes for a great pantry, but an odd assortment of items that I just wasn't creative enough to figure out what to make for dinner. Sometimes I actually would coupon shop during the week on my lunch break and then "grocery" shop on weekends.

At least now, shopping the salvage grocery store, I feel like I'm getting good bargains and buying stuff that I will use on the e-mealz recipes. I'm really only using about 5 of the meals per week. So I can ignore two of them (I usually pick ones we wouldn't like or the least healthy). I also tweak their side dishes (wish they would quit listing canned green beans...they make me shudder).:rotfl2: Although I do have to admit my family LOVED:love: the ham & cheese rollup (ham lunch meat, cheese & Pilsbury pizza crust). It was like a giant hot pocket for dinner.:lmao::thumbsup2

Of course, I may try switching to the E-mealz Points Menu (based on weight watchers). I've read some comments that it's the healthiest and a lot of people like the recipes. On the low fat plan we only found about two meals per week that we liked. But I must admit, one of our favorite recipes was on that plan (Mustard Shrimp). Sounded strange, but it was really good.:thumbsup2

Okay, I try to stay away from political discussions because really I don't know much facts to back my beliefs..I just have certain feelings about a small sprinkling of subjects near and dear to me. But I wanted to share because frankly it was funny, Eloy said "scary" and had this overwhelming need to vote! Which I guess is the point of the message. :thumbsup2

:goodvibes Glad you are feeling better! The harvest party sounds like a bunch of fun!
It's sad now that the boys are past that trick or treating age, takes the fun out of Halloween.. though E and I had fun watching people dressed up at Mall of America and in the bar district downtown on Saturday. The only time of year you can wear strange outfits and not get stopped by the mall police. :lmao:
