I am seeing this too and just don't get it. Pretend like it never happened so you and your family don't get embarrased??? I don't know. I don't understand why her mom is protecting him, for her own selfish reasons I guess or she really doesn't think anything happened but I can't see that being true because she knows what happened to SIL.

yeah i think it's an embarrasment thing, she wants to save her and her husband from embarrasment. well you know if it happend you can't just hide that stuff,that is seriously stuff!

I think it has something to do with the whole taboo thing and how people just didn't talk about stuff like that back in the day and tried to bury it and if you bury it maybe it "really" didn't happen or some ridiculous notion like that. Well I can GUARANTEE if it happened to THEM they sure as hell wouldn't be acting like that. Or maybe it DID happen to them and they are ashamed. I don't know. All I DO know is it took me a LONG time to gather the courage to tell my mom and then it REALLY hurt me that she kind of took my dad's side and seemed to care more about "his" feelings then mine. Don't get me wrong I love my mom and she basically my best friend but on a lot of issues we clash because she is VERY old school and out spoken and I am not like that at all! I won't just sit there and let something happen!

I have been SO tempted to just tell my dad but now the guy is dead and I am over it but I think the worst part is they STILL talk about this guy, esp my mom, as if he is this GREAT guy! Makes me want to vomitt! She is keeping up this facade for my dad's sake and I have been SO tempted to spill the beans so many times.

As far as your case is concerned Sara it is prob like you said either she just plain is in denial and doesn't believe her OR she is just too embarrassed or doesn't WANT to believe. But to me my kids are my life and I'm sorry to me they come before my dh!!! I become momma bear when it comes to them! WATCH OUT!! LOL

Good Morning!

Lots of drama on my end this weekend too...

In an nutshell DBF's 16 year old cousin disclosed to me that her dad has been "touching" her. She said that she tried to tell her mom but her mom didn't believe her. I called DBF's sister who was molested by her uncle (the same guy) when she was young but when she had tried to tell her aunt she didn't believe her so she ran away when she was 15. We called Child Protective Services and they took DBF's cousin to a foster home. We have to go to court on Thursday. DBF's sister is going to try and get custody of her but because her husband has a DUI on his record we don't know if they will let her.

I am going to get her a prepaid cell phone today and some clothes and take them to her today.

Pretty much DBF's aunt is covering up for her husband and saying nothing happened. She has the whole family believing that the cousin is lying. I'll admit that his cousin has caused problems and lied in the past and if it weren't for the fact that I have heard the stories from DBF's sister about what had happened to her growing up and not I'm hearing the EXACT same thing from his cousin I 100% believe her.

Sarah that is awful. I hope things work out for her. Your right sometimes kid act out and do things to get out of certain situtations or at least hope to get out of the situation.

It's horrible that the aunt is covering for her husband. It makes you wonder how many other kids he has done this too.

Right, especially since the aunt has always taken in other peoples children. DBF's cousion is actually adopted (extended family) and SIL was raised by the aunt and uncle until she left home at 15. They are the type of people who only do things to try and make them selves look good, not because it's the right thing to do and people that don't really know them think they are the nicest and sweetest people and that they are always willing to help anyone out but they are not.

I got to talk to DBF's cousin on my lunch break and we are going to see her tonight. We are going to get her a cell phone and a Walmart gift card so the foster mom and take her to get a nice outfit for court since she only has the clothes she was wearing when they picked her up.

Hey did I mention that my new car already has a problem? Yep, the starter went out on me. Thank god I have my settlement money coming, I can use to pay for this stupid repair!!

I wasn't sure how much the foster family would supply her with. She said they took her out and bought her undies and pajamas. Do they foster parents receive money right away to go buy her stuff? She had called me last night becasue the social worker said she should dress nice for court and she only had the clothes she was wearing when she left.

I think they get a bit of emergency funds, or perhaps reimbursement, beyond the monthly stipend. My aunt and uncle always had foster teens, but they didn't do emergency placements.

Hey Sara when is your birthday? Mine is tomorrow. B that is cool yours is this month too. Lots of June b-days!! Happy Birthday to all the June gals!!

Of course I have not exactly been in the mood to celebrate and honestly now that I am in my 40's I don't feel like "celebrating" birthdays anymore anyway LOL. Just reminds me of how OOOOLD I am getting LOL. Dh's is 5 days before mine and we always seem to end up celebrating his and mine kind of gets forgotten half the time which is FINE with me. This year I bought myself my camera which I like buying myself stuff cuz then I know I get what I want Dh got me a new pc which I was DESPERATELY needing. My old one was over 10 years old and kept crashing and said I had no room on the C drive and it was REALLY slow and on and on. I guess he got tired of me threatening to throw it out the window LOL. And mom said she is giving me money so I can get the zoom lens for my camera so I am excited about that. So gift wise it has been an AWESOME b-day but with everything going on it has been kind of a downer. We were supposed to go out and celebrate both Shane and I's b-days tomorrow or Friday but I don't know if that is going to happen now and Frankly I would feel kind of weird "celebrating" with everything going on. In fact mom and I were supposed to go to a baby shower in San Francisco on Saturday but before we knew when the service was she thought we might still go and I told her I didn't think it was appropriate. I just don't think we should be doing ANYTHING "fun" or celebratory when someone just died! It doesn't seem right.

But anyway I heard last night that they are going to have a celebration of his life instead of a memorial service because they are not religious. I AM so it is a bit weird to me but to each their own. It is going to be at a restaurant/golf club and I guess they are going to have a video presentation with photos of his life and have people talk. I think it is a neat idea and I like the idea of it being a positive occasion but I have just never NOT had any kind of religious service. I guess there is always a first time.

Anyway so today I am just home again doing chores and tonight we have swim pics so luckily that will be able to happen since they can't really make those up and then tomorrow I have work and Friday I am going to still be able to volunteer at the girls school so they are happy about that.

Shane is going to go ahead and take the girls to the swim meet and I am going to the memorial or whatever you want to call it with the rest of my family on Saturday.

So that's what's going on with us.

Sara I think it is awesome what you are doing for your cousin and I will be thinking good thoughts and praying for her! As someone who has been in her shoes I hope that she feels safe now and I am glad that she has you and your dbf on her side!!

So we met up with DBF's cousin last night. We got to take her out to eat while the foster family was attending a church function nearby. She was so happy to see us and really happy when we gave her the cell phone and she started texting her friends right away. She said the foster mom told her she would get a couple hundred dollars but it takes about a week. DBF gave her some $ so she could get clothes for court and what ever extra stuff she wants to get. We met the foster mom and she seems nice, she has a 16 YO daughter so DBF's cousin has a girl her age there.

The foster mom took her to the local youth center and got her signed up and took her to get a library card and also told her she will take her around to apply places and find a summer job so she can earn some $ and not be stuck there all summer. We're pretty sure she will be staying at the foster home but she said she's ok with that.

Woot! Sara Happy B-day! I am registered with Marie Calendars and I usually always get a coupon for $5.00 off a meal and a free piece of pie although this year I don't remember getting it. Although it is just now june so maybe I just have yet to get it. It is usually good for the entire month. We also get one for our anniversary!

The girls are signed up with Dennys and Baskin Robbins and also Children's Place. I suppose I should sign up with more places I just never thought about. It sounds like there are lots of good places though. I didn't even KNOW about the starbucks. What do you get again? I go there every week a couple times a week on my way to work. I will DEF have to find out about that one!

You are so lucky you can go on your actual b-day. Mine is always way too close to the end of school for the girls so I have never been able to go on my ACTUAL b-day BUT I am going CLOSE so I am going to get a button anyway.

Good news Shane FINALLY passed his contractors license test!!! I guess FOURTH times a charm LOL. He just got home. So we are going to go have some lunch and celebrate. I am actually amazed because between my surgery, my uncle passing and everything else that has been going on he really didn't have a lot of time to study but thank goodness he FINALLY did it! WHEW! One less thing to worry about!
