chase rewards???

I also charged DD's braces. Sadly, I was going to put half on my Chase card and half on Discover. It wasn't until I was there to pay that I found out that they don't take Discover.... and I didn't have a large enough line of credit to pay totally with the Chase card. I ended up paying everything I could with the Chase card and the remainder in cash. I should have thought to pay half, go home, pay off the card, and return in a few days to pay off the other half. Live and learn.

A few weeks ago my grocery store was having a special.... buy $300 in store gift cards, get $30 extra for free. I bought the gift cards with my Chase card.... so I got the free $30 PLUS Rapid Rewards!! I was able to do this twice during the promotion! (I could have bought more, but I didn't want to have more cards than I would use up in a few weeks.) I'm trying to get MUCH smarter about doing things like this. If we go out to dinner, sometimes I try to buy a restaurant gift card (with my Chase Southwest Airlines card) at the grocery store for where ever we are going. That way, I get Irving gas savings for using my grocery store card and I haven't really spent more than I would have in the first place at the restaurant. .........................P

I always try to buy gift cards at a grocery or drug store with my Chase rewards card or Freedom card because i get 3% cash back. I wish my grocery store would offer that kind of deal!

Okay so I just looked at my Chase rewards, but I'm on points...how are you all getting cash? I'm just curious. I've never really worried about rewards till yesterday.

You have to have a Disney Rewards Visa from Chase and not just any Chase rewards card.

If you do have the Disney Visa then 1 point = $1 on a Disney gift card (not cash).

If you have regular Chase rewards, look and see what you can use your points for. For instance, with the debit card program you can exchange points for cash either a prepaid debit card or cash deposited directly into your account (which is actually a better deal). Even though it isn't Disney rewards, you can still put it aside to pay on your trip.

It's a much better deal to cash in for GCs to places you would already spend that money and then put that money aside for Disney. For example it's 40k in points to get $100 Amazon GC but it's 50k points to get $100 cash.

We charge our gas, groceries, & several bills to our Disney Visa each month. I rountinely make $20-25/month in rewards. When I can, I charge big items to gain even more. I recently paid off our WDW trip with our Disney Visa & made $10 extra this month. Overall, in the last 18 months, we've made $550 towards our upcoming trip.

I've had a Chase Cash Rewards card for a few years now. A couple of months ago, on advice I read here, I called Chase and asked if I could convert my account to the Chase Freedom card. Instead of 1% I'm now getting 3% on up to six different categories, I think. Because I was just converting my existing card, I got to keep my existing account number and user ID to my account online. Definitely worth inquiring about because to go from 1% to even 2% is, well, double what you were getting before! :goodvibes

I also put everything I can on my card and pay it in full each month.

I can't pay my mortgage with it, no.

I work in a bank and the only way we can use a CC, in branch, to pay bills is to do a cash advance.. and I don't think cash advances get you rewards so...

Shoot, but thanks for the answer. I went to my lender's website and didn't see any options for paying with cc, so I figured I was out of luck. Naturally that's my BIGGEST monthly expense...guess I'll have to find other ways to spend! ;)

i've been charging grad school tuition and then paying right back with the money i get through my company's reimbursement program, so that has been helping us get up to a few hundred dollars each year. plus this year we initially charged DVC and then paid it off when we got home, so we are lucky enough to be up to 384 rewards since september--should be up close to 500 by the time we leave in september. but i will make my last grad school payment in august, so i think we will have to start looking at charging everything possible to the card and then paying it off in full in order to keep getting a significant amount of awards each year. without some planning, we'll probably be down to about $150 a year.

Sorry to hijack, but we had a Wamu card that is now Chase, does anyone know if we will get the same rewards as people with a regular chase card?

No..in my case my WAMU card (My Points) just rolled into a regular Chase with Flexible Rewards, which looks like it is similar to my My Points card where you earn gift cards and such. I wrote them and asked if I could just convert to a different rewards plan and was told I'd need to reapply.
