I am thinking about getting the Chase Disney Visa card. Do the rewards ever expire?

For those that have this Visa, do you think it's worth getting? Thanks!

Yes, the rewards do expire.

Generally speaking, they accumulate on your state and they are good for at least 3-4 years. Meaning you could wait for a while to put them on an actual reward card.

You need to have $20 in rewards to GET a reward card shipped to you. Then, you can add more rewards to that card in $1 increments, but it has to be at least $10, so $10, $11, $12, etc.

Once that card is issued, it is good for the rest of that year and the next year. So, if you request it in Sept. 2010, it would be good until 12/31/11.

They are good for 5 years if you do not transfer them to a card.

We use our visa for everything. As long as you pay it off monthly it is worth it for us.
If you are going to be paying interest not so much.

Rewards are good for 5 years after you earn them. What I earned in December 2010, are good until December 2015.

The rewards card is good Until December the year after you redeem them. Meaning if you get a card TODAY the card is good until December 2012.

And yes you generally need $20 to get a card and can reload it with any dollar amount after that. However, I was able to get one with only $10 this past September. Not sure if it was a fluke or what but I wanted to get a card with as little as possible, in case of last minute trip cancellation, which there was. Now I have a $10 card that is good until December 2011.

They accumulate for 5 years and then are good for one year once you get a rewards card.

I think it is VERY worth it!

We put everything on it, gas, groceries, large purchases, food, everything! 2 trips ago it paid for ALL our food/dining and a few souvineers. Last trip we had free dining so it paid for all non-QSDP food and most of our spending money. Now it's down to just hubby & I and I'm thinking I want to use the $$ to buy 10 day non-expiring tickets so we can just go when we want for a couple small trips. Just make sure you pay it off every month! The interest on that card is awful! :scared1:

Depends. Are you already using a rewards program that offers better benefits? We use the Disney Visa and Discover. Both 1% however, Discover does different promotions quarterly to earn 5%. So we use our Disney Visa for everything unless it falls under one of the promotional categories on Discover. We've had the Disney Visa for about a year and a half and we have appx $650 in rewards on it so far! Totally worth it!

We love our Disney Visa! We've had the card since "Day One" and have used reward dollars on several trips. We use the Disney Visa for everything we can and pay the charges off every month. It's usually 1 reward dollar for every $100 you spend but sometimes there are special promotions where you can get 3X or 5X the rewards.

For our trip this past October we had ~700 reward dollars and used them for:
Dining tips and appetizers & alcoholic beverages (we were on the DDP)
MNSSHP tickets
Typhoon Lagoon tickets
Souvenirs

:thumbsup2

I love my card!! I use it for everything & usually pay it off every month (or at least try :) )... Last trip we had approx $180 in FREE money to use. If you are thinking about getting one they usually have good bonuses--some I've seen are $40, $100, or even $200 in rewards after your first use...I rec'd $100 in rewards when I opened mine a few years ago...:thumbsup2
