When making our DVC purchase, I used my Disney Visa for the down payment. I used the option of 6 months 0% financing.
I was confused on making payments as I put everything on my card, $4-$5K, throughout the month and pay it off. I called a representative each month to explain to me what amount I should pay as it was quite confusing to me.

The representatives gave me the wrong dollar amounts each time and now I have financing charges but also, my promo is paid off while it was not due until February. I called Chase and an account specialist agreed that it was their fault however, there is nothing they will do to correct this. I'm considering canceling my card just for the fact that I received poor CS.

If you plan to use card for this promo, please do not rely on CS reps as I have.

and they all work the same way. Anything you pay goes toward the balance with the lowest interest rate. This is common industry practice from what i've seen. That's why your 0% interest is paid off and your other items keep getting it with interest charges. Not chases fault, but really yours for not understanding how these offers work. And I'll admit they don't make them easy to understand.

I am sorry this happened to you. We did the same thing and one thing I learned is that you have to wait until the statement closes to make the payments or they apply it to DVC first.

Once the statement closes, then you pay off the new charges plus 1/6th of the DVC balance and it will credit it correctly.

It is too bad that Chase won't make the adjustments for you since the reps have indicated it was there fault.

Exactly... They did credit my finance charges. It's paid off and I'm fine with that. I'm disappointed with Chase reps for not understanding, or being able to explain, their policy.

This offer does NOT work that way. At the very end of your statement, it will show your promotional purchases, their balances, and their expiration dates. (Note that they need to be paid off in the payment due BEFORE their expiration date.) Take your total balance and subtract the total of your promotional purchases, and that's what you can pay WITHOUT finance charges. (Unless it's less than your minimum payment -- you still have to make the minimum.)

I had a total of 4 or 5 such purchases that I successfully paid off last month after 6 months and no finance charges.

You do, however, have to wait until your statement comes, though -- if you pay before it's calculated, it may all post to your promotional purchases.

I am sorry you had this experience. It was NOT your fault, but I would never trust the customer service people to understand this stuff properly.

Thank you for explaining it. If there is a next time, I will know.

Thanks again!!
