My points that I have built up will start falling off in a few months. We plan to go to Disney in 2016. What is the best way to save the reward points? Gift cards? If so, where do you buy them? Thanks for the help!

I transferred the points to the redemption card, then bought a gift card online at Disney, using the redemption card at checkout. Easy peasy!

Actually, since you're going to Disney next year, you can get the redemption card now, and it will still be good when you go. A redemption card requested now won't expire until the end of next year.

Is the credit card worth it? Do you get a lot of points on it? Was thinking of getting Disney card or a Southwest card to get miles.

:wave2: I have both cards. I've had the Disney card a LONG time and don't feel like the rewards are that great, but at least I'm getting something back that I can use. I got the Premier Southwest card because they offered 50,000 points. That there is 2 round trip flights to Orlando for me. It does charge an annual fee of $99, but at the same time you also get 6,000 points for your anniversary. To compare, booking a one way flight for $175 only earns 893 points. So that 6,000 points for $99 is a good deal. When you book a flight using the southwest card you also earn double points. If you always fly southwest and fly at least every 2 years, it's a good card to have :thumbsup2

For my wife and I the Disney card has been worth it. I suppose it depends on what you anticipate using the points on though. If you plan to use it for travel I would think you can gain points faster with another card, an airline card or one that can trade points into miles. For us, we use the Disney points to eat on when we go to WDW. We do use our cards for just about everything though, and keep them so that we can pay them each month. For air tickets, though, we use an airline card. The standard Disney card returns %1 in points. The premier version returns %2 on some charges (gas, groceries, restaurants and Disney locations), %1 on all else. The premier also has an annual fee with it.

We have been using our Disney Visa exclusively for almost everything for the past 3 years. Our method is to charge everything, then immediately pay off. Well, we've earned almost enough in rewards to cover half the cost of our first trip to WDW this summer, staying at the Polynesian. We are thrilled!

Here's my question... How do we redeem the rewards & apply to our balance? Do I request a card and then call disney to make a payment toward our balance using the card?

Thanks SO much!

Since the credit card is through Chase you will probably have to redeem for gift card then apply that towards your vacation. Just keep in mind it takes a few weeks to get the gift card in the mail. I hear the Polynesian is VERY nice! Enjoy your trip to WDW.

You don't have to get a gift card. It's a Disney Visa, the reward card can be used for Disney purchases, including trips.

Step 1: request your Disney rewards redemption card
Step 2: request the amount of earned dollars to be transferred on to it
Step 3: redemption card is mailed to your home
Step 4: use your earned dollars prior to the date your new redemption card expires
***Your redemption card is a 16 digit number with a 4 digit expiration number and looks like a typical credit card. It's just pre-loaded with your available earned dollars. You can use the redemption card for purchases at WDW or even when booking your trip to make a payment.

I buy gift cards at Sams or Costos because the $100 gift cards only cost about $90.
