I keep seeing negative comments about Chase Credit Cards. We have had them for about 20 years and never had any issues.

Yesterday I got a call from on of their customer service reps who left a message saying that my CC had been compromised and to call back. I didn't recognize the number she left, so I just called the 800 number on the back of my card to be sure.

Well, sure enough, someone had used my card to make a $1,000 purchase. Thankfully, Chase had called the person and asked for verification and the person didn't have my info so they didn't proceed with the charge.

I am going to have to wait for a new card and number and will have to change all my auto payments and online buying numbers, but at least they caught it and I will get all new numbers.

I have heard some good things about Chase's Fraud Dept.

This is one area thet seem to be on the ball with.

Chase called me several months ago asking about a $1400 charge and it was not us! So thankful that they monitor everyones accounts, it was from some medical website. They mailed me something for me to sign stating that I did not authorize the charge and sent me new Credit Cards. They credited my account and that was it :thumbsup2

Chase is very good with their fraud detection! :thumbsup2 They called and left a message one weekend when we were out and about, and when I called back they were questioning several charges made in Brooklyn/Queens. They were really good about going through all the recent charges and taking off the ones I said were fraudulent, closed the account and sent a new card right away.

So even though I'm not happy with some of their other practices, they get a thumbs up from me for their fraud dept!

In January I used by Chase card to pay my maintenance fee for my timeshare in Mexico. I received a phone call and an email to make sure I made the charge.

This is one positive thing about Chase. They do protect their cardholders.

Now if only they would send me bonus points offers......::yes::

They aren't protecting you, they are protecting themselves!!! By law, a cardholder of any credit card can only be responsible for $50 of fraudulent charges. I'm a Chase card holder myself and have experienced their excellent fraud department first hand. But never think it's to your benefit. It's to theirs.

Chase called my husband when an ex boyfriend of one of my daughters tried to get a credit card with my husband's information  We all put fraud alerts on our credit reports :thumbsup2

True, but by reducing their risk to fraud they are also able to be a little more reasonable with their fees they charge their customers. I got an updated notice from Chase on our credit cards yesterday and after hearing all the horror stories in the news about how to offset the Feb 22 changes, some card companies are raising rates, charging annual fees and trying to squeeze money even out of good customers, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Chase is not raising the rates, nor are they going to be instituting any annual fees or other tactics to squeeze money out of me.

Me too! I got the call on Tuesday. There was some unusually high gas fill ups in Texas. I am glad they caught it, it makes it easier to deal with the bill when I do not have to call them, explain, etc. I signed up for text alerts as well.
Chase must be an easy one to tap into for crooks though, because I swear I get a new card and card numbers less than every two years. It is a PITA to change over all the automatic payments and I know I have a lot less of them now for that reason.

How come no one detects the fraud that Chase puts upon it's customers in the form of it's rates and fees? :lmao:

LOL! :thumbsup2

I am the first to say I wasn't impressed with Chase fraud department. They called me 24 hours AFTER I made an online purchase and left a message. When I called the number they left, there was no introduction or greeting, it simply said "Please enter your 16-digit card number." Um, riiiight.

I have heard of credit cards being frozen due to large charges, so I proactively call my credit card company before making a large purchase to let them know my intent.

Once Discover called because I had shopped at three different grocery stores here in my hometown within two days, LOL! I told them I might do it again but thanks for calling.

Well then you are one of the very few LUCKY ones. Chase is AWFUL. Just awful. :headache:

My 23yo son bought a car in 2007 with Chase. Paid the car payment every month as he had it set up for automatic withdrawal.

He sold the car in April 2009. The car was paid off in full. DS received a letter from Chase saying thank you for your business. The End.

Nope, Chase did not take out the May payment as the car was PAID IN FULL and sold. BUT then in June they took out the payment from his account. :headache: DS called Chase...."oh sorry, we will refund you that amount"....they did but it took forever. :headache:

July was fine, BUT then in August, Chase took out the payment AGAIN. IDIOTS. :headache: Now, this threw DS' account into overdraft as he had all his bills set up to pay but was not expecting Chase to withdraw the $350.00 that was his former car payment. :headache: Took, another month to get the refund back. :headache:

They are IDIOTS. Complete idiots. They do not protect their account holders AT ALL. DISer's RUN from Chase as fast as you can. DS' bank manager told him to immediately put a block on his checking account so Chase could not COMPROMISE his account any more. :headache:

I have had this same credit card for about 5 years with no issues until today.
