i was just looking on the cruise meets thread and the 2017 cruise I have my eye on is marked as a "chartered cruise"

What does this mean?

It means the entire ship has been booked by a private group. This happens from time to time. The most likely are DVC or TMC.

Looks like it's the right timing for the TCM (Turner Classic Movies) cruise. This year it starts 11/12, so if they keep the same ship it could make sense.

And it might be available for booking now, but IF it ends up being TCM for next year, they will cancel the bookings already made. Sad but true, and it happens with all (as far as I know) cruiselines. Of course, if it is that one and you REALLY want that sailing, you could always book the TCM cruise through their site.

Darn, this is so disappointing. We had our heart set on that date. Thanks for the heads up though. We've already been booked on one cruise that was canceled (wonder-dry dock in 2014) that was so horrible. Glad I didn't book this one!

This is becoming more of a problem lately. These charters. On all lines fwiw.

OK. perhaps it is just instant media and what not allowing the publicity of said charters. That affect everyone.
Even though the lines suppress said disclosure.

Feel blessed DCL sailors, because other lines are far more notorious for cancelling sailings for charters more often.

This is me trying not to name a specific company notorious for this. .......
I'm bias, as we have had sailings cancelled. But please don't let my bias affect the magnitude of this company's behavior.
Google it. Oh my. It's endless, random, and unpredictable, that is what is unacceptable regardless of the one year notice. IMO. They have a ship that is supposed to be for charters. But randomly they still pull a ship/sailing. :scared1:

Rant Over

At least with TCM a person could still go. It's not something very specific that you have to qualify for by being a great car salesperson or something like that.
