Is anyone familiar with any ghost tours in the Charlotte, NC area? DH & I will be there in Oct. and really enjoy haunted walking tours. Are there any in the area?

We also plan to go to the Reed Gold Mine, anyone been there? Thanks!

I have lived in Charlotte for 21 years, and have never heard of a ghost tour...but let me ask around...I'll find out!! :cool1:

Thanks! I really hope there is, ghost tours are such fun. Have you ever been to the Levine Museum? or Catawba Queen? Or the gold mine? or Discovery place? I wonder if there is much at the Discover Place for 2 adults ( 2 fun loving, very in touch w/ their inner child adults? :rotfl: )

Discovery Place is fun, plus they have the Omnimax, which is bigger than Imax..If they have an interesting film that you think you would enjoy, I would def. see it! The Catawba Queen is also a really good time. If your going to be here in October, you should also consider Scarowinds....but only if you like scary haunted house kind of stuff (I do not)....let me think of some other fun stuff, and I'll post in a lil' while, or I will pm you. :flower: How long are you staying, have you thought about any places to eat>

We're only going to be there a few days. Scarowinds is only open on weekends & we'll be there on weekdays, figures huh? Still looking into dining. Thanks :)

If your going uptown check our Mortons of Chicago. It is a little pricey but is one of the best I've ever eaten at. They just opened up a Ruth's Cris (sp) in town also.

I assume you are going to the gold mine for the Halloween tour. The Haunted Mine is seriously scary (at least it has been in past years) -- I wouldn't take a young child. Reed Gold Mine itself is out in a beautiful country area. It is fairly interesting if you like historical sites, which I do, but pretty simple without a lot of frills. You can pan for gold, of course.

I was getting ready to recommend Carowinds/Scarowinds and saw your post. Too bad -- Carowinds 2006 annual passes, which are good for the rest of this year, are $49.99 now.

Reed Gold Mine is basic information, nothing fancy, but it is educational--it can be chilly in the mine area (I guess they still let people in there).

My DH and I loved Discovery Place before we had DD, and enjoy it even more now.

we also enjoy going to the Blumenthal Center uptown for plays, etc.

I don't think this is during your dates, but the Reed Gold Mine is allegedly haunted and around Halloween they do special tours. The following is info from the Reed Gold Mine schedule of events:

October 28-29 The Bloody Reign of the Mad Miner. Haunted mine tours, hayrides, ghost stories around a campfire, kid’s games, performances by Chaz the Magician. Fees $2 for haunted mine and $2 for hayride. Kids’ games $0.50 each. For details, call 704/ 721-4653. 7-11 p.m. nightly.

You might want to check this site as well regarding hauntings in the Charlotte area: http://www.prairieghosts.com/charlotte.html

Have a great trip!

Actually I didn't know they had a haunted mine tour, I'll have to look into that. Thanks!
