Charlotte Airport

Looks like we're going to have to change planes this trip (direct flight prices just cannot be justified!!).

Has anybody got any experience of changing at Charlotte airport? Trying to plan flight times and don't want to have too much of a rush between flights if we can help it.

Any help/advice appreciated.

PS - what does happen if you miss connecting flights? Do you have to pick up costs for additional tickets etc?

I have not been to Charlotte airport but I have changed planes lots of times.

If the plane is late into the hub airport then they put you on the next plane .

If you miss your connection because the airline's first flight was delayed they will get you on a later (or next day) flight. It's not going to be a cost to you.

I've been into Charlotte a few times, it's a pretty decent airport to transfer at. As with most US Airports the customs and immegration can take longer than you'd expect, if possible I'd go for a longer transit time.

Charlotte is one of the easiest airports to transfer in with not too much distance in between concourses. However with all the increased security these days everything still takes forever, and the last time we changed at Charlotte our cases were literally the very last off the belt, and so we only just made it. As everyone has said though if you do miss your connection you will be trensferred to a later flight, and these are quite frequent from Charlotte to Orlando. Carolyn
