Charlie Sheen = crazy?

It is truly so sad and difficult to watch as he seems to be unraveling before our eyes. It must be so difficult for his father and rest of his family to watch. My fear is that he will take a gun and just start shooting. No child should be left with him. I hope someone realizes this and gets his daughters out.

Nope. Charlie is not crazy, bipolar or any thing else except a crack head. and like most crack heads or other addicts, they will fight tooth and nail to avoid getting treatment.

Charlie has yet to hit bottom. He's still got plenty of money, he's getting all the attention he could possible want and he's still getting women to sleep with him. So exactly what's going to motivate him to get clean?

From what I read this morning, professionals in mental health believe he is either in an extreme manic state or the long-term drug use has really affected his brain. Personally, I think it's both.

There was discussion if he has really stopped drinking like he says, this could have increased the level of his manic state as alcohol as a depressant would have help counteract those feelings previously.

So let me get this straight, his chronic alcholism and drug abuse is actually good for him? Sorry, not buying it. first all these professionals are "arm chair" quaterbacking. not one of them has evaluated Charlie except through interviews. Having lived with addicts I can tell you they can put on what ever "act" they want.

Now through in the fact that ole Charlie has plenty of money, power and is a professional actor....

Charlies has been partying hard his entire life and never had to face any consequences from it. Now he does, yeah I guess that would make me pretty manic also.

Personally I think he gives folks who have serious diagnosed mental health issues an absolutely bad image. All the every day folks who are not allowed to thrash hotel rooms and must seek help.

Just wanted to add...He's a grown man, so whatever he chooses is what he chooses. I just can't believe how fast it has all spiraled out of control. I mean, he's an actor so his business is always out in the open, but all of the sudden it's just everywhere.
And, while I do feel a little scared for the kids, they have mom's and family that should be stepping in if there's a problem.

How are you so certain that he isn't in a manic state? You are pretty much self diagnosing him as a being a spoiled actor, so you are doing the same thing too.

Being in a drug induced state, is very similar to that, and when you look at his lifetime of addictions and self medications, it most certainly could be a mental illness. There are many of us who also have experience with addicts, and most of their addictions are comorbid with other brain/mental issues.

Regardless of whether it's a diagnosed mental illness or a drug induced one, he is in need of serious medical attention, as he is very ill.

I don't see how he is giving anyone with serious mental health issues a bad image at all...the only one he's giving a bad image to is himself, and of course his poor kids who have to see their dad in this state.

Please-nobody said that. You are making a big leap with that one. That was presented as a possible component of what is going on and I just commented on it.

I watched him on The Today Show this morning. He was totally sane, rational and normal. I commented to my DBF that maybe he was pulling a "Juqain(sp) Phoenix". I feel so badly for those adorable boys.

I admittly know nothing about their mother but if I saw Charlie on TV, and in interviews, acting the way he has been I would have swooped in and gotten my children out as well.

She is a hot mess also.....I watched him on the today show this A.M. and he sounded pretty good today,very clear.
He may have a huge EGO but it needs to be seen by a Dr. to be able to tell if there are other things going on.

I don't know why it's such a big issue. He isn't really that important. A lot of people do very similar things in their ow lives, just on a smaller scale because they don't have as much money as he does. If he wants to throw his life away, while I'd prefer he do it outside of the spotlight, it's really none of my business.

While I don't agree with the things that he's doing, I don't think it's right for me to ridicule him. Everyone has their own journey to go through in life. This is his.

I agree with you. I don't agree that he's got alot of issues, but I know that he's not the worst parent out there. The twins mother has had her issues with drugs. Now Charlie has lost the kids? There was no court order. The Today Show interview today he was totally sane and lucid.

Well, of course you would, if you are also ill. I for one have no doubt that they both have physically and mentally abused each other, and they are both ill, so of course she would go away with him. She married him, and had children with him also. She is supposed to be in treatment, yet she went away with him? She is in need of assistance, just like he is, and their babies need to be away from both of them until they are well enough to care for them.

It's all very unfortunate. Most of the Drs I've seen on TV have said he could be bipolar but then again the symptoms of drug withdrawl are very simular so it's hard to tell. I think his biggest regrets will be not seeking treatment and trying to go it alone and doing all these interviews. I had this posted in my newsfeed on FB today http://livethesheendream.com/ . I think he will have a hard time living down some of the things he's said once he comes to his right mind (if that does indeed happen one day)

I'm not sure what the problem is with observation? Professionals rely on observation for various diagnoses. Not all disorders, etc. can be proven with medical tests alone. Observation, especially with medical professionals, teachers, counsellors, etc., is very important, as it allows for comparison, as well as creation of a track record that can then be used for further testing, with the end result being diagnosis.

I don't see what the problem is with medical professionals who have treated thousands of patients, especially psychiatrists and psychologists, offering their professional opinions on what could be going wrong with Charlie Sheen?
