Charley and the CR

We arrived at the Contemporary at 12:30 pm on 8/13!! Terrific timing but we made it. We had a ground level room in the north wing, overlooking the playground. Very nice spot. I have to say that I was mightily impressed with the CM's here before, during and after Charley. They took very good care of the guests. We were told that the restaurants were closing, so our PS's were no good. Disappointing but understandable. We were told to go to the Convention area for our dinner meal, courtesy of Disney from 6-8:30. We got there around 5:40 and the CM's were eating. At 6 we were told by one person that we couldn't eat after all and to go directly back to our rooms. But, another CM came out and yelled to stay where we were. We would be allowed to fill styrofoam containers and take them back to our rooms. Have to say that it was quite an adventure. People were really good and for the most part, understanding. There were some that felt they were not getting what they had paid for and they were making a fuss. Our DU agent and my oldest dd tried to get through to us on Friday night but the CM's were so busy that the calls didn't get answered! THat freaked out my dd a little bit.
Housekeeping never actually cleaned or made our beds. THey did bring in clean towels but that was it. No big deal as far as we were concerned. When you saw on the news how badly the folks there had it, you stopped complaining about the lack of services at WDW!!! We had power and food. We were cool and had clean water. So, a big thank-you to all the terrific CM's who stayed on-site, sleeping in pool chaises in the convention hall, and took such good care of us. You are truly the greatest!!!
