Hi there, DISers!
So, I'm taking my first trip to WDW in eleven years this November (wooooo, so close!), and one thing that will definitely be different from the last time I visited is the shiny new iPhone that is now basically welded to my hand. I don't have the funds at the moment to spring for a fancy extra-battery case or anything like that, so I'm sure I'll have to do some re-charging in the midst of my daily park perusal. I know that there are some outlets in the new Tangled restroom area at MK, but I figured you folks would know of other places a girl could juice up her phone on the fly. Where are the spots I should look out for in MK? What about in Epcot, and Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios? Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated!
Really? Wifi can actually drain your battery faster, especially if it's a weak signal and/or there are many users using the access point. One tip I've read is to turn off your data service and use the Disney wifi instead.

It more depends on the signal. Going in and out of many buildings on WDW property, especially rides, can cause your cell phone to slip into and out of dead zones. So while on the ride, your phone will use more juice as it sits there and keeps scanning and scanning for a signal. The same can apply to WiFi. If you are in an area where it keeps dropping the signal, or can't find one, it will keep scanning for wireless. Good rule of thumb? Turn both off unless you need it. It takes all of 10 seconds to turn it back on and to connect back to the network. However, I leave both on all day, upload pictures, browse web etc while in the parks, and I've never had my iPhone die on me. Yes it may be running down in the 30-40% charged at the end of the night, but never dead. Being on vacation may be a good time to unweld the phone from your hand, and enjoy the sites, sounds, and company you are with. Twitter won't explode if you only post 5 tweets instead of 20, and Facebook will still be there with all your new wall posts later on that day.
Ok- so I am getting an iphone 5s (ordered it and haven't received it yet.) I have never had a smart phone before. My old one barely made phone calls. So from reading this, I am getting the impression that my phone won't stay charged all day? So charging it overnight and starting fresh in the morning isn't enough? I really have no idea of these things and am not good with gadgets and technology so this is not an issue I have thought of before. Part of the timing of getting the smart phone is to use at Disney as we go in November.
Look into morphie cases as you will need one anyway will add a full charge to your phone.
Ok. I ordered a yubi. Hopefully it will work with the 5s! Thanks for the tips! Battery life is something I would have never thought about! (Plus it will be good for my DH to use at home as he always forgets to charge his phone!!!)
