A recent post by a guy who uses a Quantum power chair on the power chair manufacturer Quantum Rehab's Facebook page left me with this thought. What if Disney could provide charging stations for power chairs that use the off-board battery chargers to charge? Both of my friends who use power chairs, and who take their own personal power chairs to WDW would love that. They've always had to drag their off-board battery chargers around the parks in a bag to plug them in when their battery would run low. It would make the bag too heavy though for them to lift.

I know you could charge them at the wheelchair rental place. I've done it before with the two rental power chairs I've had. But, then that would involve having to go back to the entrance of the park. Then having to retrace your steps.

do they require plain old regular sockets? there is first aid, maybe a out of the way spot in a shop( they gotta run the vacuum cleaner at night, right?!) and I thought they started providing cell phone charging station spots, although those may be in the smoking areas.

There are many standard power outlets scattered around the Parks at WDW; ask a Cast Member to help you locate one if you are concerned that you need to charge up your chair.

It is incumbent on the user to keep their chair charged up; Disney will provide you an outlet to plug in your chair or charger, but they are not obligated to provide chargers.

Additionally, Disney can't provide power chair (or ECV) charging stations because it would create a huge liability for Disney if the charging station damaged the battery, or the chair. Although charging a power chair might use a fairly standardized plug/charger combo, ECV's and some of the new "folding electric wheelchairs" use many, many different kinds of plugs and chargers. It would be nearly impossible to provide a complete set of chargers that would encompass the many different brands of power mobility devices.
