Hi all

We will be leaving for our 1st WDW in 20 days!!

I have questions regarding purchasing items at the parks and charging them to your resort/room

1st..Is there a fee for doing this?
2nd. Can this be done even if I don't have a credit card?
I will be paying cash for everything, but do not want to carry it with me all the time.
3rd. Do all resorts have this service?
4th.. Can purchases be paid off each night? or will I have to wait until checkout day to pay the tab??

Thanks for any input.

Yes all of the "Official on site" Disney resorts offer this service... as far as not having a credit card... I would think that if you gave them a set amount of cash during check in they may allow you to do that & then propably yes, you can pay more at the end of the night for the next days purchase ( I do want to say that they may require a minimum of several $100, when you have a credit card, they put a $1,000 hold on it for your purchases). Another great perk is..... if you do purchase anything at any of the parks or Down Town Disney they will deliver it to your resort and all of this is free of charge.......it is a perk for onsite guests only....to be on the safe side, I would call the front desk at the resort you are staying at and ask the policy of using cash...

We use our debit card when we check in but several times during our stay we go and pay the balance on the room. This way it never gets "charged" to the card and we can make sure the charges are correct. The night before we leave we go and pay the final amount on the bill. We make sure that all the charges have been put on our room key so there aren't any surprises after we leave.

when we went in june of this year the room key secured by credit card had a line of 1500 - once it hits 1500 they debit your card and start automatically at another 1500... unless you tell them otherwise - I set our limit at 400 and then increased it as we hit 350 - then increased it again... concierge has access to billing information so you can check it whenever - I imagine the resort TV system is hooked up to billing like most hotels also.

as to using a cash deposit I do not know - I did not ask

There is no fee for the charging privilege

I won't speak for all the hotels but the moderates do not have the billing information on the TV. You need to go to the front desk to get the information.

The actual "limit" is based on where you are staying.

The deluxes - $1500
The moderates - $1000
The values - $500 (I think)

Now those are the limits at which WDW will charge your card. It is not the limit of what you can spend at WDW. Disney would never have a policy like that.LOL

The TVs are NOT tied into the billing system at WDW.

We used my check card last year for this. I loved it. About 3 days into the vacation, we had reached about $600 and they refused any further charges until we called and arranged to have the balance charged off the the card. It was no big deal. I loved the freedom on only having to carry and keep up with one card. The best part is that the room/ticket/chrage card doesn't spread around your credit card number all over WDW. I have not considered using cash or travellers checks for this, but I'm sure there has to be a way to make this work. Mickey

Thanks to all who have replied to my post.

My granddaughter woke up this morning and said
Yea! Only 19 more days till we see Snow White and the 7 "doors"!
I love it!

Not that she's really into the princesses that much.
When I asked her which princess she wanted to have her picture taken with she quickly told me..NONE! I want my picture with GOOFY!:earsgirl:

Ok....that's enough for now...headed out to do more clothes shopping

We are DGM and DGD headed to WDW in 19 days

Just one word of caution when using your resort charge. No one tells you when you're getting to your limit until you try to use your charge and it is declined. It's no big deal, but you have to call your resort and ask them to secure a new line of credit for you. I would imagine that if it was a busy day at the parks that would be a really big pain. If you don't keep track yourself, you have to ask the front desk for a print out of your charges. Also a pain if it is busy at your resort. As far as I know, you can't get your balance on the resort TV.

Do you have a charge card that you can leave as a guarantee? If so just use the number upon check in and then when you check out you can just pay with cash, then nothing will actually be charged to your card. Or you can make "mini payments" in cash over the course of your trip.
