staying at RPR next week and I've got a quick question. If I enable room charging on our keys can we use them at Bubba Gumps's and both Emerils? I thought I'd either read or heard somewhere that not all places will let you make charges to your room key. :confused3 Can anyone provide more info on this?

I have read that some places let you but don't know which and also heard that you have to watch out cause some places double charged them so keep this in mind and just watch out .:thumbsup2

I'll reply to my own post since I've just returned and I have the answer to my own question :lmao: in case anyone in the future needs to know. I was able to use my room key as charge card everywhere we visited on site except 3 places. Bubba Gumps had to call the hotel to verify they dont participate in the room key charge option for whatever reason. The artist that do the charactures in the parks and on city walk do not take the room keys and they said they are an independent contracter but they were very nice about it and will take any other credit card or cash. Also on city walk where they do the temp tat's and hairbraids only accept credit cards or cash DD and DW had their hair braided (I'll include more on that in my trip report). The Movie theater box office cannot take room keys but they do have a kiosk set up inside the lobby where you can use it and get your movie tickets without standing in the outside lines WoooWooo. Everywhere else (including both Emerils) we had absolutly no problems and were able to check our charges nightly in the room and had no mistakes :thumbsup2 as DD loves to say it was "easy peasy" and I'd do it again without a second thought. :thumbsup2

glad you were able to work it out:goodvibes

we weren't able to use it @ NASCAR (dining) or NBA (dining/drinks); not sure why other than waitstaff sez it's typical:confused3

Most, if not all, of the vendors in Sinbad's Village at IOA are indie contractors and don't accept room key charges.

If you use it, check your bill before checking out. There have been reports here (just a few fortunately) of duplicate and totally off the wall charges showing up.

I was one who had fraudulent charges put on my room key over Thanksgiving week.

However, just because of that, I found the room key the best thing to use at the parks.

Not only do the charges show up almost immediately on your room account, which you can look at on your room TV, it is very easy to fix immediately.

In our case, we returned from dinner, I checked our room balance before I went to bed, saw the bogus charge, and marched right down to the front desk with my correct receipt.

They issued me a credit to my room immediately. If this had been on a credit card, where I didn't notice the bogus charges till I got home, it might have been more of a pain to fix. I would have had to dispute the charges, send in my receipt, etc. Done right away at the hotel, it was a piece of cake to fix.

Additionally, we had absolutely no problem using it at any of the restaurants we ate at for the week nor any of the stores.
