I am asking this for a friend who is leaving for the Poly in Dec. Is there an age restriction on charging with your KTTW card? Her three kids are 7, 10 and 12. She said they will be together but she is letting them spend so much money each day on thier own and thought if they used the card it would be easier. An info would be much appreciated. Thanks.:thumbsup2

I am going next October and am probely leting my kid, aka DH:rotfl2: have charge privilages if he behaves.:goodvibes

I think when you're friend checks in to the Polyesian the Cast Member will ask her if she wants her kids to have charging privledges on their KTTW cards.

If she wants to give them each some spending money, she can purchase "WDW gift cards" (I'm sure there is a different name for them, I just don't know what it is). She can set these up with exactly the amount of money she wants to let her kids spend and then it will be up to the child to properly budget his or her funds. It's a great way of making sure you don't overspend, as well as teaching kids about budgeting. I did this for my kids (12 and 7) on our last trip and it worked great.

what madalex said is what my sister does. She gets the gift cards which are the plastic ones that look like credit cards. Each kid gets one with X amount of money. They know how much they have to spend and use the gift cards to purchase things. My sister finds this easier that way they automatically know how much they have. With using the KTTW card there is no limit to how much they can spend.

Thanks for the suggestion. I mentioned this to her and also Disney dollars but she just thought it would be easier using the KTTW card.:confused3

I believe at the Polynesian, there's a limit of $1500 on charging on your room key? So, anyone with that key who has charging priviledges could charge up to that amount. There's no age limit to who can charge on the cards. You designate that individually.

So, your firend would get there, have $1500 for charging and have four room keys that could charge. She'd have to check her statement each day to see how much the kids put on the card. She wouldn't be able to say that Card A has only $20 charing, card B has $40, Card C has $40 and the remaning $1400 can go on Card D.

Has she considered using Monopoly or other play money as a guide? Give the kids their limit and when they want something, they hand over the play money to Mom and she puts the purchase on the charge so everything is together but the kids have to reduce their "stash" each time. If they lose the play money, no big deal (although a good lesson on what could happen if you would do that in real life).
