Last time we were there in June we went from park opening to park closing and my battery died and I wondered what everyone else does??

I have heard they have outlets in some of the lockers now that you can charge your phone. I know for me too I usually shut all my apps and everything down on my phone so that if I need to call or text that is the only thing that takes battery. Lots of apps are continually running and suck battery so ask at your phone store how to shut as much off as possible. Good luck. :)

I buy a spare battery. With my Galaxy S2 I need a spare battery with my every day use. I will definitely have it with me in 13 days on our trip to DLR.

The only time I have had an issue with my cell is if I am on mobile magic too much. Other than that we have a no talking on the phone policy on vacation.

Bring your charger and charge overnight and you are good to go for the next day.

We have the same issue with our phones.

There are a few scattered outlets that I have seen people plug their phone into, but I personally wouldn't want to have to stand and wait for my phone to charge. I have much better uses of my time while I am at Disneyland!! They do have cell phone/device charging lockers on main street in the locker rental station. They cost a few dollars ($3 or $4) to use.

What we have done is purchased a small charging stick that holds a charge enough to recharge our phones one full time. They were about $15 (on sale). We haven't tried them out yet, but look forward to doing so. It's just a bit larger than a tube of lipstick and not very heavy at all. It will be very easy to slide into a bag/pocket. When our phones get low, we hope to plug them in and let them recharge in our bags. I hope they serve our intended purpose well!!

You can check out chargers for your phone that you can precharge, then when your phone battery runs out, you can use that to charge it up again while you walk around in the parks. I believe Best Buy has things like that. They are pretty small/portable, but be sure to get one that is enough to power a smart phone if that is the kind you have.

I was literally coming on this board to ask the same question! I saw a previous poster talking about apps for waiting in line and I wondered how people maintain a charge :)

I have a portable battery charger for my iPhone. It's approx the size of a 9 volt battery and when I plug it into my iPhone it's charges it right up. I take it with me on long flights and longs days at Disney.

Yep! Told my husband I was going to buy it and he said oh, something else for you to forget to charge.... :) (I'm still getting it!)

This works for a lot of people. It doesn't work for me, and a few others. See, thanks to my cell phone, and being able to handle work from the park, makes me be able to take my daughters for long weekends to Disneyland. If I didn't have a cell phone, I couldn't take Fridays off, head down Thurs night, and get 2.5 days relaxation.

General tips for saving battery on any smartphone:

1. Turn down the screen brightness as much as possible (biggest and easiest thing you can do). Of course, darker screens are harder to see in bright sunlight, but you could always just find shade or go inside somewhere.

2. Make the screen-off timer shorter and/or don't turn on and off the screen as often. Touchscreens consume the most battery power on any smartphone, so turning them off for longer periods of time will conserve more and make sure your phone makes it through a longer day.

3. Kill apps that request a lot of data, e.g. Facebook/Twitter/email updates, auto-refreshing weather apps/widgets, contacts/calendar syncing, etc. If you have these apps, go into their settings and switch to updating manually, otherwise they'll continue to update at set time periods, and that uses up battery. Think of it this way: if you're not even looking at the app, why let it send you more data? It'll update when you open it anyway.

4. Turn off Wifi and bluetooth while in the parks. This effect is usually very minuscule if it helps at all, but every tiny bit can help. You're not using it anyway (well, most people don't). Same deal for GPS, but many apps like Mousewait utilize it so I usually leave it on.

5. As someone said before, use it only for communication. Being bored in line or waiting for a show, it can be tempting to play a game or watch a video on it while waiting, and I'm as guilty as the next person :mic: . But you're in Disneyland! Soak up the ambiance and atmosphere instead, look around! There's plenty of cool details everywhere to entertain you at least for a little bit :cool1:

EDIT: P.S. If you have a digital camera lying around, use that instead of your phone! Even old point-and-shoots often take better pictures than any smartphone's camera, and they have longer battery life too.

How old is your battery? Most phones should last all day unless you're spending a few solid hours on the net or playing videos/games. Easiest thing to do is to buy a new battery that will last longer and an external charger. Use your old battery and bring it along as a spare. I have a new battery in my old Evo 4G and it lasted a good 14 hours even randomly using Mouse Wait all day in the park.

One thing to look at on a portable charger is the mah.

And Iphone has a 1420mah battery in it. So a charger with a 3000mah battery should be able to charge an iphone 2x.

Buy one with the most mah you can afford to always be sure you have enough juice.

Just remember the more mah will increase the size and weight.

:thumbsup2
