This will be my first time to disney? Do everyone charge everything to their room or pay everything as they go? Which one is better than the other or wiser? Which one do you prefer?

I usually charge to the room. This way it is a detailed bill to help track expenses. You can check what you have spent at anytime and get a print out at the desk. This was you also have 1 or 2 charges to your credit card instead of 100.

We usually do a little of both. We will charge our meals to the room. For drinks or snacks, we usually pay cash.

We do something similar... If it's over like $10 we charge it to the room. I like to save cash for snacks and other little stuff. This time, we will probably use cash for tips as they aren't included in the DDP.

We just got back and charged everything to our room.. It makes things alot easier.. And less to carry around.. You can just carry your key to the world and your id.. No need for bulky wallets and purses..

I know you have to tie the room key to a credit card if/when you charge items to your room but can you use cash to pay it off at the end of the trip instead of the credit card?

Actually when we there in Dec. we did not use any credit cards. We had our debit cards with us but we gave them $500 cash when we checked in and a little more cash about halfway into our trip.:)

You can pay it off with cash or a check but you will need to do this the day before you check out. They will charge your cc the night before you leave and put the checkout packet on the door to your room so if you want to pay in any way other than a cc you will want to go to the front desk and do this prior to the evening before checkout. I like to pay with a check, so I do this and it works out well. Any charges that I incur after this I just leave on the cc since they are generally just a few.

I'm sure OP has enough answers by now, but we charged everything to the room (aside from a newspaper or two.)

The printout really helped with my family "bookkeeping". To be fair, I probably keep many times more records than most families require. So it might not be an issue for you.

We had a gift card which we were able to apply to our KTTW charges, so even those purchases were now recorded on the same printout.

It was nice having just the one charge to the credit card.

I loved just carrying around the KTTW card and ID and nothing more. Aside from DD's change of clothes and my kitchen sink, that is... :lmao:
The overall convenience was enough to make me want to stay on property for every future visit. (May there be many more!)

Question about using the key to the world for charges.... On our trip there will be four adults in one room. Can each person attach their own credit card to their key to the world or is it one card per room? Thanks!

I would like to know this, too.

I think you can do something called a Share. You may need to get a cm-higherup/mgr to do it. It is simlar to what the do with people on convention, so they each get their own bill.

I know you can set up the limits of cards this way, I am not 100% you can make them on different credit cards. I do know not every desk clerk knows how to do this and you may need to get a manager, but it can be done.

Just charge everything to your room no ned to carry a bunch of cash or credit cards just your key to the kingdom

I have a question...

What happens if you lose your card, security wise? For example, if i lost my card and someone found it, could they start charging stuff to my card?

Thanks!

T:cutie:

We went on a trip about 4 years ago and tried to hook more then one credit card up to our room and the CM at that time said we couldn't do it. Would really like to know if this has changed. I do that know that the itemized bill that you get from the charges to your KTTW card shows which KTTW card number(each card is numbered) made the charges.

We don't charge to the room, but since we stay at Shades of Green (not an official WDW resort), we don't have that option. If I did have the option, I would sure use it!

Also, it depends on your circumstances. We are a group of 4 women traveling together, staying in a suite. It would be too hard to charge to the room, since we would have to try to sort out whose charges are whose. Much too complicated. But if it was just me with my family, I totally would!

Always charge to the KTTW card. Love the convenience and it doesn't encourage us to charge any more than we ordinarily would.
