Charged for CRT ADR but on DxDP?

We had a 9:30pm ADR for CRT. Since that is waaaaaayyyyy to late for our kids, I've been looking every day for an earlier one. Our travel agent made that one for us and had it linked to our dining plan so that we weren't charged for it.

A couple of weeks ago I saw one for 8:30pm but online booking was trying to charge me so I called the dining #. But by the time I got through it was gone and the CM on the phone told me that next time I should just pay for it online and then call them right away and they would associate it with my dining plan # and refund my money.

So today when I got one for 5:50pm I paid online and then called. The CM on the phone said there is no way to do that without canceling the ADR and then trying to rebook but that there was no way she could guarantee the time would still be available after she canceled it. At this point I was really frustrated and she was being really rude so I said I'd just call back later.

Which one of these CMs is correct?

It is true that the ADR has to be cancelled and rebooked but it can be done. I just went through the same process. For me, this wasn't something that the regular CMs could do- I was transferred to someone else. It was a lengthy process but it was taken care of. :)

The first question my DH asked me when I called him to tell him about this was "well did you ask for her manager?". Guess I should have thought of that. Glad it worked for you, I'll have to call back and try that.

Check your post on the Reservations board about arriving at a reservation for 4 with 5 people before you cancel your previous reservation.

I'm not canceling anything yet, just trying to get the $200 off my credit card since we have the dining plan.

When booking online if you attach your dining plan (resort reservation) to the system you will not be charged.

Some people recently have been able to get their money refunded. I know last year it was impossible without either cancelling the ADR or going to CRT and then have them reverse the charge on the CC.

I'd call back and try again. Some of the CM's know how to do it without cancelling.

I think Nala got your thread mixed up with another poster.

Yes, you have to log into your reservation to book meals on your dining plan. However, when I called and booked the cm did NOT attach my DxDP to my CRT ressie, and I got charged. Luckily I caught it and she was able to cancel and rebook instantly! I was beyond mad, but grateful that I got the same ADR time!

Good luck with this!

I was logged in to my resort reservation but it still charged me. I've seen a number of posts on here about that happening.

Just wanted to update that on my 3rd call to the disney dining # someone finally agreed to transfer me to a supervisor who made me a new booking (he called it overbooking) with just a CC guarantee and then cancelled my original booking and refunded my CC the $192 I was charged. He was really helpful.

There are a limited number of CMs who seem to be able to make another reservation before canceling the first one and refunding the card. This can not be done by just anyone who answers the phone. The ones who can not do this can only attempt to grab a new reservation after they cancel the original.

Another option is to wait until you get to the meal and get a refund then. Considering how long it can take sometimes for a refund to go through, it might not be much of a difference.
