Charged extra $10 on shipboard account

When you get your bill in the morning, you can ask them to take it off or simply tell your attendant you aren't taking it.

I think people are referring to an additional charge that shows up on their credit card bill after the cruise.

I think I remember seeing an extra $10 charge on my bill. Silly me, I did not even question it. We cruised in July - is it too late to call. I know we did not take a laundry bag and not even sure if one was in there.

We also tipped our room attendant way above the recommended amount. I hope DCL does not pull a fast one - since like me, many probably don't even question it.

I remember seeing a charge after my December cruise too for about $10. I didn't question it and figured it was probably something we bought on the last morning. I know we didn't take the laundry bag.

But a few weeks after that cruise, I got a credit of $14 from DCL. So I can't complain too much.

We told the stateroom host that it was missing from one of our staterooms but we were still charged after the cruise.

We notifed DCL and received a refund and apology.

And I checked my bill, it's definitely there.

Will see what mood I am in tomorrow and if I have time. Does not hurt to call.

DH just called and was told they are gong to refund the charge. I'm glad I saw this post!

Wow, that was fast. I was told (since I wasn't sure what the charge was for) that I would have to wait until next week while they investigated.

Should I call back and say it's probably a false charge for the laundry bag?

Edit: I just called and was told I have to wait 24-48 hours for a call and it might not be until next week.

I was given an email address to explain my side and hopefully they will do something about the exchange.

She did say it could take some time for the credit to show but she said she would process it. She also said she was going to email us a list of all the charges, which I'm not really sure why unless it will specify what the $10.00 was. I will be sure to monitor the credit card statement to see what happens. ;)

OMG!!!!!! We were on the Wonder 8/26 Alaska, and I had a $10 on there that I was racking my brain about!!! I did not take the laundry bag! It is just not worth the effort to be on hold forever about it... but a bit frustrating!!!

I realize that. Regardless, it's easy enough to tell stateroom host.

I don't know about you, but I don't have a stateroom host at my home, after I've completed the cruise.

The charge isn't added until after you've checked out.

I don't even recall seeing a laundry bag in the room last week. Where is it? I just checked my CC statement, and no charge, whew.

I wish ;) but you can easily tell the stateroom host YOU DO HAVE on the cruise.

Either tell the host beforehand since its now known as an issue OR deal with it at home. My first post was that it happened to me and now I tell the host. Every. Single. Time. That way I don't have to call.

Oh. And that's NOT true. I looked at my bill early morning and it was on the list. I went and had it removed. It was $5 when it started happening with us. So.... :) my experience.

When we were on the Hawaii cruise last May we bought a lot. Got the final bill and just glanced at it. Last night my wife spent about $120.00 for some final memories. When we got home I went over the bill and they charged us twice on the last night for that purchase. Called DCL and had to go through many channels but about 3 weeks later they credited our charge card and an apology. I just wondered if it happened to other people who never checked their statement. Now I check from day 3 on and make sure it is right before we leave the ship.

That may have been your case, but not mine. The charge was not on my bill, I only noticed it because I looked at my credit card online today two days after I got off the cruise.

I can't believe Disney is nickel and diming it's customers. As many have posted in this thread, some just wave it off thinking they may have bought something. I really wonder how many people they are doing this to.

If I go on a DCL cruise again (not really a fan of cruising (but I wanted to experience DCL), I prefer the parks), I will take your advice and show the stateroom host the laundry bag so this doesn't happen again.

Great! I like to try an avoid any hassle after the trip. So frustrating to have to deal with it.

So it's required to give them Ccard info? What happens if someone doesn't have any Ccards?

It's not that. But wouldn't surprise me if the stateroom host didn't like an empty envelope for example and it's selling these or taking them back home...

AFAIK you cannot pay the cruise fare with cash, hence there will be something they will go after even if you settle your stateroom charges with cash.

Sounds like the $10 laundry bag charge is common.

We left the stateroom attendant an extra tip too. Maybe not enough to his liking?

I have cruise several times (not with Disney) and have never had this issue.

Bad Disney

Do you seriously think your stateroom host dinged you with this on purpose because you didn't tip enough? :scratchin
