We are planning 2 families in a 2 bedrrom VWL in March. I was wondering if, upon check-in, charges can be assigned to each familys' charge card for charges made during our stay...or must all charges be made on one card and we and our guests settle up later? Thanks for any info.

I am just assuming here, but with the new reservation/check-in policy. Every guest must be listed that is staying in the room. Each guest will receive a room key/card with their own name on it. This was different in the past, as the reservation holders name was on all of the key/cards. Since each guest has their own, maybe they will be able to divide the guests onto different credit cards. However, unless the computer system is set up for this, it won't work. Also, if they can do this....be sure to keep all of your receipts and check your statement at check-out to be sure the charges were seperated clearly.

Twice we have done this on trips with friends staying in a 2 BR at DVC resorts (VB and VWL). Both times, it was NOT possible to divide up the room cards to different credit cards at check in. Each room card has a sequential number at the end (1,2,3,4, etc), so we made sure that my friend and her family had cards 1 - 4 and we had cards 5 - 8. The last night of our stay we got a printout of our room charges and went through and found who's card made each charge. We then went to the front desk with a total for each of us for them to charge to our individual credit card. It wasn't that big of a deal, but it would have been nice if they just could have linked cards 1 - 4 to her credit card from the start. I'm going on a "girls only" trip with my mom, my sister and my niece in June. I'm already planning on this same approach for our room charges.

Last trip DW and I decided to forgo the charge to room key thing.. just used our visa for every purchase. It was accepted without a problem at every kiosk and gift shop :teeth: We couldn't use express checkout of course.. but the bill was zip so it took less than a minute,.. and it gave me a chance to thank the desk for the great trip..

When we got home.. my visa card had everything listed on line.. just download to ms money.. quick and easy to see..

As always, thanks so much for the great info. This board allows DVC members to really get the most from our DVC membership through the great exchange of advice and experiences. Not sure, but maybe we'll just divide it up once we get home. Thanks Again.

Dsnyacct...you are amazing. Who would have thought to do that. That's why I love these boards. You can learn anything if it's been done.

We were just in a two bedroom in January with another family. DVC would NOT allow us to use two credit cards for the villa. In fact, my BIL checked in a bit later than us and had to get his tickets added to his room keys. He wanted to make sure that he paid for these. When he did that, they actually changed the credit card that we were had for charging to his credit card. We had to go back to the front desk later on and get it changed back. We knew he didn't want to pay for our charges at the Marathon Expo (which were rather high). My KTTW and my husband's KTTW were the only ones with charging privileges. My BIL used a credit card at the parks for his dinners, etc.
