This will be my first time at the Fort! Can we buy grill stuff like charcoal, on property? We are planning to grill a few nights at our cabin.

Yes, you can buy charcoal there. They carry most of the basics.

Disney is very proud of the items they sell in the stores.
Bring plenty of money.

I believe when we were there last November, I saw a can of this that cost over $4....
Buy what you can before coming onto property - If you are able

Unless you are flying in, stop by a Publix on 192 (Walmart is a little further away) & get your supplies.

The Trading Posts will sell a can of Coke for close to $2.00 (if I remember right), but a 2 liter is about .60 higher - go figure.

We are flying and taking ME to FW. I am planning to pack some stuff in my suitcase like box of pasta, peanut butter & jelly, cereal, and snacks. Figured we would buy hot dogs, rolls, bread, juice, butter, milk, eggs and charcoal when we get there. Am I better off looking at a grocery delivery service?

Yes :) Buying that stuff from Disney isn't cheap, however, the delivery services charge for their services.

I use www.wegoshop.com and they charge $17 for $50 and under and $22 for $51-$100. They will shop at the store of your choosing and give you the receipt.

I think 4 pieces of charcoal is like $79.99 and $30.00 extra if you want it in a bag.:scared1:

Garden Grocer worked great for us. The food was in the cabin when we arrived, with the milk in the fridge and the ice cream in the freezer. The fruit was even ripe! There is a delivery charge ($12 I think), but that's cheaper than checking a suitcase full of food through the airlines ($25 each way).
I was worried about ordering too much. Turns out I didn't order enough and had to shop for refills at the Trading Post. Very expensive and hard to carry everything on the bus. Next time, I'll order more.
Have a great trip,
Dianne

Last time we stayed at Riverside and ordered for GG-I seem to remember a note saying we could order more during our stay with no additional delivery fee...? This may have been a limited time thing or my memory may be cloudy.

Where can I find a price list for FW store? I would like to compare that to GG prices.
GG is pretty expensive, plus they have a 12 delivery fee. I wasn't that thrilled with them when I used them and switched to wegoshop and was extremely happy.

I'm going to be using them again. This is a far much more personalized shopping experience, and they will present you with the actual receipt from the store you select, and then just add the delivery fee to it.

Admittedly I always have a vehicle with me to roam around in, but I have a question about this topic. Wouldn't it be less expensive to grab a taxi to go to the Publix or the Wal-Mart Supercenter, and buy groceries yourself? Or, if you 'make nice' with other DISers that are just hanging out at FW maybe you could get them to take you and you could buy them dinner or a nice bottle of wine.

I always have one as well. But I value my limited vacation time more than the fee charged to go shopping for me :)

I would go to the Publix on Rt 535 and it takes about 10-15 minutes to get there. Even if we divide up the list, well, we don't know where stuff is, so it's going to take us a while to find everything. I'm thinking roundtrip would be at least 60-90 minutes.

Add to it the impulse purchases, and well, the shopping services pay for themselves. We have to make sure we order (or bring) everything we need to cook a meal (on the grill) or have breakfast, so that's a pretty good way to actually save some $$$$ :) We also recycle most our shopping list, and we have it down to pretty much of a science :)

It actually ends up being a big time saver because we grill food that's good cold (like chicken) and have dinner in the cabin every night. We have our sit-down meals in the parks for lunch when it's less crowded in the restaurants and have our evenings to enjoy the parks without having to deal with the dinner waits.

I think going to the supermarket, at least for us, would end up costing us time and money. The shopping fee is well worth it, since we're presented with the store receipt and know we're not overpaying (ie; garden grocer).

For me, I don't mind cooking on vacation (a little), but I don't want to spend my vacation time grocery shopping. New clothes, yes. Groceries, no. I'll gladly spend $12 for someone else to buy food for me. If I could do that here at home, I would seriously consider it.
