Hi everyone :goodvibes

I keep hearing that there are only very few characters in the parks, at least compared to the US parks.

I´m started to get worried that we might not even meet Mickey Mouse after all and my kids would be devastated. We´d also love to meet Winnie the Pooh and some of his friends and my son would love to meet Buzz Lightyear or Woody.

What is your experience with characters in the parks?

when we went last (dec 2011), we saw mickey, winnie, donald, jack sparrow the rest we only saw them in the parads, the only way you get to meet the characters is if you dine with them :thumbsup2

Disneyland:

There's a permanent Meet Mickey Mouse 'house' in Fantasyland, and the Princess Pavillion where you can meet a princess, both of which are undercover and you can queue for. There is also a semi-permanent (?) area for meeting Duffy and sometimes Minnie in the Square of main street, and another for meeting Winnie the Pooh (and/or friends) at the other end of main street.

We also met Jack Skellington near phantom manor (only Halloween to Christmas apparently)

Have also seen on Twitter that at the moment there's also regular meet and greets on the edge of Adventure land (not far from Pirates ride) for characters like Peter Pan, Wendy, Hook...... Alice and the Mad Hatter, WHite Rabbit, Tweedles, all near the Labyrinth.....

Studios:

A LOAD of characters come out onto the lot near the Stitch show late morning - complete random mix!!

There's two permanent outside meet and greets in Toon Town - I THINK one is always Minnie, and the other is Buzz int he morning and Pluto in the afternoon.

Also once saw Aladdin and Jasmine near the carpets ride for a random meet and greet (Sept '12)

Village:

Cheapest way to eat with the characters is do Cafe Mickey - you don't have to do set meals, you can share pizzas and things, and on average you see around 5 characters (Mickey and Minnie, then others such as Pluto, Eeyore, Goofy, Tigger...)

DLP also have recently started policing the meet a greets in the parks a bit more and creating queues (may long it last!) so it's now very civilized!

Until early November you can also meet characters int he hotels, and you don't need to be staying int he hotels for them either (randomly met the white rabbit in the DLH when we wandered in for a nose and a look around their shop!). Met Jessie and Minnie in our hotel (Cheyenne). There's also the Decent of the Stairs in the DLH every afternoon where there's about 5 characters who make an appearance.

So as you can see, there's quite a lot!!! Well, I think so. And I'm pretty sure I've missed some!!

You will have a good chance of meeting what I call 'The Big Five' - Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck'.

Winnie The Pooh has a meet and greet point just at the end of Liberty Arcade and we have seen him there many times. Duffy has a meet and greet point down near City Hall. Minnie and Buzz have meet and greet points in the studios too.

We have also randomly met Eeyore, rabbit, goofy,chip and dale, Balloo, Mulan, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, the white rabbit and tigger. Most of those just by sheer luck.

There is also the meet Mickey building in Fantasyland - there is always a fair bit of a queue, but you do get to meet the main mouse!

Thanks everyone for your awesome responses! I´m feeling a lot better now, lol :)

You can meet characters every morning in any DLP hotel.
And there are unmarked meet'n'greets in Disney park around 1 pm at Colonel Haithi's pizza outpost and Pizzeria Bella notte.

I know people are complaining about character lack, but we didn't experience that. We always meet lots of characters in the parks.

Not so random since it is the Stars 'n Cars set.
* Mulan (classic outfit)
* Mushu (classic outfit)
* Donald (special Stars 'n Cars outfit)
* Daisy (special Stars 'n Cars outfit)
* Goofy (special Stars 'n Cars outfit)
* Woody (classic outfit)
* Jessie (classic outfit)
* Stitch (special Stars 'n Cars outfit)
* Lilo (classic outfit)
* Aladdin + Jasmine (classic outfit)
* Remy (special Stars 'n Cars outfit)
* Emile (special Stars 'n Cars outfit)
* Ariel (classic outfit)
* Evil Queen (classic outfit)
* Cruella De Vil (classic outfit)
* Gaston (classic outfit)
* Mary Poppins + Bert (classic outfit)

I've put Aladdin + Jasmine and Mary Poppins + Bert together since they always do their sets together.
Lilo + Stitch, Mulan + Mushu, Donald + Daisy and Remy + Emile sometimes do their sets together and sometimes separately.

Only Snow White and Dopey, Minnie and Minnie and Sulley appear in the Stars 'n Cars Parade but don't do sets.

These characters are out between 11:00 and 12:30, but usually not all at the same time.
So if you want see/meet them all, you have to hang around Production Courtyard the entire time between 11:00 and 12:30.

Also the Descente the Stairs is NOT every afternoon. It's only Thursday til Sunday between 16:00 and 16:30.

Thank you for the info about Descente the Stairs!

Oh, really? No one on here had mentioned that before! Thanks for that. Do you work at DLP?

the Descent of the Stairs has always been Thursday to Sunday only, and it has been mentioned lots on this board in the past :). I don't know where the idea came from that it was on every day.

My apologies. I don't recall seeing anyone mention it was only those days, but I haven't read every thread! :) (not yet!!!)
