Does anyone remember any good character experiences with their kids? (Looking for mainly Mary Poppins stuff. )

Sorry this is not Mary Poppins, but my DD had a great time at Crystal Palace with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore. We went for breakfast during Sept at 8:10 am. There was not many people there at all and all of the characters spent quite a bit of time with her.

Also at Cape May for breakfast around 9 am, Minnie, Goofy, and Chip all sat down and colored with my DD. The table is covered in butcher paper. Again the place was empty and the characters spent alot of time with her and us. We kept the drawings...Minnie drew a cherry tree, Chip wrote I am nuts for you and Goofy drew himself.

When we go back, we WILL be doing both of these breakfasts. We did not originally plan on the Cape May breakfast, but on our last day we had a table service left for all of us. So I called the night before and they got us in no problem. I am so glad we made both!

We saw Mary Poppins at Norway resturant (I can't spell it at this moment). She was very nice to my mother who is a big fan. she had the white dress on

we saw mary poppins at 1900 park fare (GF) for breakfast, she was wearing the black nanny outfit. the mad hatter gave her a spoon with a packet of sugar in it (I'm sure you get it) anyway my son asked her what it was for (he was 3) she broke out into song singing A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down lol I thought that was the funniest :rotfl2:

Our Mary Poppins moment was quite awkward..as dd 3.5 didn't quite know who she was..lol Ms. poppins sat at our table and colored with our daughter and dd didn't look up even once. A little embarrasing. (oh well, we were there to see Cinderella. lol )

My daughter loved seeing mary!!!
We took a photo also I will post it when I get enough post counts to post pics
LOL

Last year, we were at the United Kingdom World Showcase in Epcot, and our DD & DS were at the Kidcot stop. The CM signed their autograph books. In our 3 year old DS's, she wrote, "Welcome to Great Britain, the home of Thomas the Tank Engine". Well, DS LOVES Thomas the Train, so I said something about how neat it was that she had written that w/o knowing. In our 5 year old DD's auto book, she wrote, "Welcome to Great Britain, the home of Mary Poppins". And I said, "Oh, and we really like Mary Poppins too!" The mother who was standing in line behind me said, "I think I just saw her outside!"

So we all (including the mother & little girl who had been behind us) went running through the side door into a little garden area behind the United Kingdom building.

And there she was - w/ Alice in Wonderland. There was no one else in the garden, so our 2 kids & the other little girl had some fabulous one-on-one time w/ Mary & Alice.

A couple of days later, we were at CRT for breakfast & the SAME Mary Poppins was there. And she remembered our kids from earlier in the week, and they just thought it was so neat that Mary Poppins remembered them coming to see her at Epcot.

Also, at this same CRT meal, our DS fell in love w/ Snow White. Snow White kissed him on his cheek, and the look on his face was absolutely priceless. True Disney magic!

This was also the trip, our DD forgot about the princesses due to Minnie Mouse. Our 1st character meal was at LTT, and Minnie Mouse was just wonderful w/ our DD who is a little shy. Well, by the end of the week, Cinderella was totally forgotten, and Minnie Mouse had become her best friend. At our last character meal (Chef Mickey's), Minnie Mouse was also really good.

We saw Mary Poppins last week at the UK pavillion in Epcot. We had several people in line in front of us and she was hilarious, straightening people's shirts and bossing them around to pose "properly" for their photos. She was one of the best characters we encountered this trip!

We rode the carousel with Mary, Bert, and the penguins once. DD still talks about it (DS was only 15 mos - too young to remember it). We were right next to Mary and the penguins on the carousel. The penguins kept waving to DS and blowing him kisses When the ride was over, Mary came over to me and told me where they would be after the ride if we wanted to get our picture taken.

On the same trip, we also saw her at CRT (Oct. '02).

Aaaaw! That is such a great pic! :teeth:
Hee he, do you think she would still recognize Mary if I....hmm...came over? lol. I even have a parrot headed umbrella! :goodvibes

Met her once at MK and it wasn't our best interaction. She was signing DS book. She didn't say much, was not smiling, when I spoke to her (as if she were Mary Poppins) she kinda looked at me and huffed. I felt like we were impositioning her and that she was not comfortable with my DS who is disabled when I took a photo. A favorite movie of ours, and I was saddened to experience a CM who did not seem to enjoy her "character" and made us feel bad.

ps Love photo above. Ours was the white dress.

Oh...that's kinda weird. Usually MP is the NICE Mary from the movie, not the books! Well...once again maybe I could come over and give everybody some spoonfuls of sugar! lol...

Aaah I just realized how obsessed I am... :worship:

Was very weird ! In 20 years of visiting with the characters, never had such a strange experience. Oh well, we all have our down days I suppose....she was the one who needed the spoonful of sugar - tablespoon ;)

I will say our trip from a couple weeks ago was full of wonderful character experiences especially the princesses. My DS was so excited to be with them, and while he doesn't really talk, he blew Aurora a kiss. She came back (she was leaving) to give him a kiss on the cheek. He was floating the rest of the day.
