Characters signing tumblers?

So this year I was thinking about having the characters sign various tumbler cups that I have been decorating. I was thinking of sealing with epoxy resin when I get back home from the trip. Anyone have any experience with them signing cups? I’m worried that the epoxy will make the ink run. I have sharpies that I was going to have then use but now I’m worried the sharpies will run. Should I seal the sharpies with something first before I cover with epoxy or maybe use a different kind of marker that won’t run? Anyone with experience please help!

May I make a suggestion? Can you "sign" an undecorated tumbler and experiment. It might ruin your one tumbler, but you would have your answer. I would hate to see you put so much time and effort in to something to be disappointed with th e results.

That’s a good idea I could purchase one from the dollar tree so I’m not losing a good tumbler if it does get ruined.
