Characters on mainstreet

On my last trip to Dl in Feb 09 I remember some characters including Mickey standing on mainstreet as soon as you enter DL, what I can't remember is, was this on a magic morning or just a regular morning. Now I'm trying to figure out if this only happens on magic mornings, if I should use this time to get pics with characters with little to no lines, or for rides. I am not staying onsite, so I will only get one magic morning. Thanks in advance!!

I often see Mickey and friends signing autographs on main street not only in the mornings, but throughout the day.

The characters are out on Main Street the majority of the day. Personally, I would go with getting the rides in during the morning and then stopping for the characters, or a mix of both.

Mickey and Minnie can even be seen late into the evening. IMO if you want a picture with them do it in the morning or just head to toontown (but not on your MM, you can get pics with them any day.

The other day I saw Cruella as well as Mickey and Minnie and several others in the a.m. Even saw the cat from Pinocchio walking around Town Square. Disney has the characters there in the a.m. to siphon off some of the crowd. There are always a few characters in that area during the day.
