We were at DCA today (and it was so much LESS crowded than I was expecting). My MIL is in a wheelchair so we didn't have huge ride plans -- she just can't take it. Thanks to you guys, I knew there were some interactive characters that hang out on Buena Vista. We met the bike messenger, and my kids wrote notes to Santa and put them in her mailbox. Then, there was another woman hanging around who at first I thought was just an.... unusual guest, but then I realized that she must be a character too? She was wearing a turban and a crazy, fun outfit and carrying an old camera. Who is she?
Then we found Officer Blue and had a hilarious chat, but he did not issue any citations.
We also saw the Newsies, the band that arrives in that awesome old car, and the bell choir. OMG, the bell choir was so amazing. Try to see them if you can.
Finally, (again, thanks to disboards!), we left through GCH so we could see the gingerbread hotel and get hot apple cider. Such a great, low-key day. Exactly perfect for my in-laws.
