We really love characters. Seems there are a lot running around the park. Do they sign autographs? Also I read somewhere you can play musical chairs with Alice (who my daughter loves). How can you sign up or participate? Thanks!

Most sign autographs, but some don't. Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, for instance, don't. For Alice, you need to show up at the Ragtime piano in front of Refreshment Corner when they are doing it. Alice and the Mad Hatter choose participants from the crowd. I believe the time changes daily, but I'm not positive about that. It's usually early afternoon, (2pm ish). I'd ask the information booth when I arrive.

The most reliable way to find out what time musical chairs is going to be: ask the plano player at Coke Corner in the morning. He plays during musical chairs, so he always knows exactly when it will be.

I agree with Mousequake, the piano player is your best bet! We asked at the information desk and they had no idea what we were talking about!!! But the piano player knew and seemed happy to have more participants. It seems like it is usually around 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

Some characters have set meeting spaces that don't sign. One that I can think of include in DL Chewbacca, Darth Vader. In CA Adventure: Zootopoia, Groot, the Cars in Cars Land :) I'm sure I'm missing some. Sully didn't sign when he was there years ago . . .

In both parks (I think in DL more) you'll find some characters that don't have a set meeting spot and are always "on the move" Jack Sparrow, Belle, the Beast, Gaston by Rose Tavern, Storm Troopers, and more. These characters will usually stop for a quick photo but getting an autograph is much trickier. We ran into Mary Poppins and Bert when they were on the move and they stopped for photos and happily signed out books but they did so while walking and chatting. That felt natural and easy. It was one of our best character meets actually! But when we ran into Jack Sparrow later that day we felt lucky to get him to stop even for a photo and didn't even ask about autographs. He seemed in a hurry. Sometimes I find it hard to know (especially if they don't have a CM with them) if they are just 100% on the move or if they are trying to leave to take a break or are heading to a set spot. So we just use our best judgment. The vast majority of times we will just take a quick look at roaming characters and move on.

Definitely take advantage of the CMs in the different areas is you have questions about where different characters will be. The app is pretty reliable but not always. Sometimes they will switch out a character last minute. But overall I LOVE that feature of the app.

Buzz Lightyear also does not sign (he often alternates with Woody- who does sign- in a spot on Paradise Pier). I think most of these are non-signers due to limitations with their costumes.
