Characters In Disneyland

We are going to be spending 2 days in Disneyland in August during a So cal trip. We are character hounds (particularly DS9) and want to know if there are a lot of characters there and if so, who and where? Any help is greatly appreciated. We will be at both Disneyland and California Adventure.

I imagine you have been to the MK and DL as far as characters is much the same. About an hour after DL opens they will be in the Town Square until the pm parades. I have seen a few time Alice, the Mad Hatter and Cruella Deville, on the west side with few people around them. Like at MK THe big five are in the square or on th East side.

DL still has a Princess Faire spot and Pixie Hollow. In toon town which is not going into rehab like MK's is more of the big five.

Also in Critter country which is behind splash is a spot to meet pooh. When you see a map you'll notice this side of the park is laid out different from MK.

In DCA it's a little harded to say since th park is in flux. I imagine that Mater and Lightning won't leave their spot across from soarin until 2012 when Carsland opens.

Also thier are character meals in each of the three Disney hotels which you can litterally walk to for breakfast or lunch if you like the character meals.

Last month Woody and Jessie were by Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue at 11:00 a.m.

Go to City Hall after you enter the park and you can get a listing of characters that will appear that day and where.

Main Street seems to be the main area to see characters throughout the day.

If you line-up at the Princess Fantasy Faire at around 1PM, you'll be able to meet three(!) princesses and be done by 6PM easily.

If you are looking for specific ones, ask at City Hall and they'll tell you when and where they will be out if they are.

We saw Jasmine by Aladdin's Oasis. We also saw a bunch of characters around Town Square at different times...Mickey, Minnie, Cruella de Ville, Alice and the Mad Hatter, Goofy..

Mickey we also found at his house in ToonTown. I know Minnie sometimes appears at her house back there as well.

At DCA we took pictures with Mater and Lightning McQueen across from Soarin. We also ran into Mr. Incredible and Sully on the corner across from the Hyperion Theatre in the Hollywood Backlot. Woody, Princess Aurora, and Sorcerer Mickey were available for pictures after the Drawn to the Magic show that happens (sometimes in front of the Animation Academy, sometimes on the stage across from Monster's Inc.)

We also ran into Jessie at the Carnival games near Toy Story Mania.

The Little Green Army Men from Toy Story also do a fabulous performance that should be on the times guide. Highly recommended!

Oh, and there's always Pixie Hollow and Princess Fantasy Faire for structured meet and greets.

ETA: On a separate occasion we also saw Aladdin and Jasmine together inside the Aladdin's Oasis area for pictures. When Jasmine was by herself, she was in the little courtyard area off to the right of the Oasis.

At park close, Mickey & Minnie can usually be found on Main St just before you hit the stroller rental area before leaving DL. They are usually dressed up in a special outfit, ie. not the standard outfits and are only there for a short time.

I can't remember if this was on the character greeting info or not. I don't think it was but I may be wrong...
