Characters for New Year's Eve

We were lucky enough to get a site about 2 months ago for New Year's at the Fort. We will be traveling with a family from overseas that wants to camp with us and not do the parks. They have two small children. I'm trying to figure out if I can get the kids to at least see the characters.

Someone posted a detailed list of Easter activities and it shows that the characters meet in Easter finery at the fort. Do characters make an appearance at the Fort for New Year's Eve? Otherwise, it seems that the only thing available is Mickey's Backyard BBQ and I'm not sure I want to spend so much right after Christmas. Just typing this out, I CAN'T WAIT.

I suggest, you check out the various Disney hotels that offer meals with the characters, the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian come to mind. They may already be booked solid but worth a try. While they are all expensive, these are lifetime memories and worthwhile expenses, if you can work something out. Good luck!
