So what is everyone's opinion about having characters at the reception? Is it worth it? Is it fun? When we 1st decided to get married there my DF said he didn't want any characters and I agreed but now I am thinking the our guest might appreciate it because it is after all Disney world and it might be a real treat for everyone. Plus since I am having a Donald Duck themed cake it seems like I should have Donald there to help us cut it! But it just seems like so much money for a 1/2 hour and I don't want it to be tacky. What is everyone's opinion?

We plan on having Mickey and Minnie. I haven't done it yet, but I think it will be worth it. We will be having several kids at the reception so I think it will be fun for them, and then of course their are the 2 biggest kids of them all, US!!!! We actually just watched a sample video from Stan and the wedding had Mickey and Minnie, it looked like so much fun!!!

Judging from all the pictures I have seen of weddings and vow renewals at Disney I think having the characters is a great idea.

Unfortunately, depending on where your reception is you may not be able to have them. Our reception is at the Isola Terrace in Italy at Epcot. Because it's a park and it will be open at that time we can't have any characters.

Yes, I'm disappointed but we will still be at Disney!

Although we're not having a Cinderella themed wedding, Cinderella has always been my favorite Disney movie. We're also not having kids at our wedding, but I wanted to have some sort of Disney touch...SO we're considering having Lady Tremaine and the Step-Sisters show up (it will be a surprise to our guests). We decided on this rather than traditional characters since they are able to interact with the guests more and I think it will make for a very memorable experience. My DH2B felt the same way when we first started talking about a Disney wedding - he felt characters would make it too 'hokey'. But now that we've seen the different options availabe to us, he's more into it. Maybe your DH2B will come around, too. Timing is key when talking to him about it, though. ;)

I think it would be so much fun to have characters at the wedding. It is really expensive though and you only get 30 minutes (sometimes even less from what I've heard). Anyone have characters at their wedding that can share their experience?

We are planning on having an assortment of characters, first during the cocktail hour, then during the later part of the reception. I think that is what makes a Disney VR or Wedding so unique. Where else can you have Mickey Mouse at your wedding?

we had 3 characters at our wedding and this was the BEST money we spent that day.

I had Mickey and Minnie - did not originally plan this but added them at the last min and kept them a secret! That was the best spent money of all. We did have little kids, but I think Josh's grandma was most excited of all! The people went crazy!!! We also had major domo and played a major trick on his brother - the best man with the rings which was perfectly fitting because his brother played jokes on everyone his whole life...it was perfect!! So the characters were awesome!

We wanted to have characters, but when it came down to it, it just wasn't in our budget. Instead, we went for a caricature artist. Everyone loved getting theirs done...and it doubled as something they could take home...and they could remember their Disney experience.

We don't regret it since it was our most perfect day ever...but if you have the budget, go for it.

Thank you all for you comments, stories, and pictures! I think we are going to be having Donald Duck at the wedding! Yay!

I would love to have characters....at least one present the rings, but I think the cost would be prohibitive.
