Characters at MGM (Hugsforeeyore, are you out there???)

We were there today and saw the same as Sk8keigh, plus Star Wars characters.

Thanks so much for all your responses! I REALLY hope we can still see Kim and Ron (definate faves), but I bet they won't be there because of Osborne Lights.

Hugs For Eeyore, do you have a way on your website to search by location instead of individual characters? By the way, you've done an amazing job on that site - you must truly love it!

MGM is the only place I've seen Sorcerer Mickey. Also it's the only place for Jojo and Goliath. If your kids are Power Ranger fans it's also the only place for them. And you can see Star Wars characters in the parade along with Green Army men and Kermit and Miss Piggy. I think the Little Einsteins are on Mickey Ave. and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's the only place to see Chicken Little and Abby Mallard. :thumbsup2 Whoops, had to edit to add Mike and Sully...this is the only place for them.

We go in August and I hope Clarice, Chicken Little and Abby Mallard are still out then. I wanted to see Chicken Little last year and missed him.

I was so pleased to see Megara out at the beginning of May - when we got our Photopass CD done at Epcot (the same day), the CM was really excited too - he said he couldn't remember the last time she had been out!

WOW!! Thanks!! :cloud9: I put up the website since I have a computer degree and wanted to finally use it for something!! :teeth: Well actually, we truly love our characters that much!! :

Funny you ask about location! I been trying to put up location webpages too (for Town Square, ToonTown Teardrop, MGM Big Hat, etc), so if you see a location listed for a character, you could click on it and see more info about that location, including recent sightings. I counted 106 different character locations through the parks and resorts! BUT unfortunately, it proved to be a daunting task and my Visual Basic code is bombing and I haven't put any time into fixing anything. My website has an Access database running it, with Visual Basic that creates the HTML, so it gets very complex and I get lost in my own code very quickly! Ok - too much technical information!! My own database at home can search locations, but the website can't. But I would love to get it running someday!! :teeth:

There is one site that lists characters by location, I think it is http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/greet.html. And it is VERY good, as someone does their research! It even lists the Little Einsteins who just started at MGM regularly. Like my site, everything can get outdated real quick when there are lots of changes going on!

I hope Kim and Ron are out then, but I can see them leaving when something newer and more current comes along! Have fun finding all your favorites!! :teeth:

We were in MGM last December and were able to have our picture took together with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. The characters came out at the big hat around 4:00 or 4:30. This made a great picture for Christmas cards. You could also get your picture took with all the characters from Winnie the Pooh at the same time. :thumbsup2

Tikigoddess! Hey, long time no type. Been missing your trip report - it was really good. I am so in the midst of OCDPD right now it's not even funny. It's got me bad. I'm not even going til December and I'm already into my second itenerary.

When are you going back? January, right?

Wow - didn't understand a word you just said! Was that English?

Anyway thanks so much for the info. I love looking for characters, but we're going with my sister and brother-in-law so I'm going to have to tone it down for them a bit. We seemed to find the same ones over and over again last trip so I really want to find some new ones.

I confuse myself, too!! :teeth: :teeth:

I had the same complaint on my character trips last fall - everywhere I went, it seemed to be Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale!! Give some variety! They took over everything, it seemed!! The Big Hat was pretty much just them, and so was the Character Connection!! But my recent trip in May, things were getting better (Big Hat had many more characters!), though Town Square was just those commons over and over again. :( But I was pleased there were some new ones out recently, which is great! So hopefully you'll see some different ones on your next trip!! :)

Just returned yesterday and saw the same ones as mentioned above by the hat. Also inside the animation building where The Incredibles are, there were lots of different characters and it was great. Don't know if this will become a regular meeting spot but it was great. I agree with all of you, the normals like Mickey,Minnie,Pluto, Goofy and Chip and Dale are everywhere, they really need to replace them with some rare characters as this folks all have a definate meeting spot somewhere at MK, so they should put rare characters out and if you want to meet these ones, go to MK. But that is just my opinion and I am into the characters so this would make sense to me. :)

My daughter would LOVE to see Frozone. Is the animation building the Magic of Disney Animation next to Little Mermaid and PH Disney?

Yes it is and I saw Frozone in there every day and he is a lot of fun so I wish your daughter luck. :)

Which specific random characters did you see in the Animation building.

And where in the Animation building do they appear?

They appear down in the interactive play area as you exit. I saw Mr. Smee, all of the Pooh characters at one time or another, including Rabbit, Kermit the Frog was there one day, Gideon, Rafki, The Incredibles, but they are suppose to be there, and there were lots more that will come back to me as I see my photos, but there were a lot of them there, Chip&Dale were also there at one point. It was a neat area. I hope they will continue to use it.

It seems that almost all the WDW theme parks have "character training" areas now:

-The Toontown Teardrop at Magic Kingdom
-The American Adventure at Epcot
-The Animation Building at Disney-MGM Studios

Does Animal Kingdom have a character-training area similar to the ones above as well? If so, where is it?
