Following advice from some of you on this board and the Brits Guide to DLP, I'm wanting to treat my two little girls (3&5) to the character tea at the Plaza Gardens. In the Brits Guide it seems really reasonably priced and it seems that there is a good selection of characters attending.

It will be my youngests (turns 3) birthday about 14 days after going to DLP so was wondering if it was worth booking a birthday tea there. Anyone know what the price is for this and is it worth splashing out that little bit extra?

Finally, last question  can you book online for this?

Cheers

Hi I have booked the birthday tea for my DD and it is £13 and i believe they get a present, not sure what else .

They do get a pressie, and a cake - when we were there in February we went to the Character tea party, and there were about half a dozen birthdays booked at that time. The birthday girl or boy got a cake, a pressie (the girl at the table next to us got a cuddly Minnie) and all the birthday cakes come out at the same time, with the birthday song being played.

£13 is a pretty good price I think, considering the basic tea party price is 13 euros each anyway.

We enjoyed the tea party, it was fine to sit down for an hour or so, plenty of drinks and pastries etc which you helped yourself to as much as you liked, and the characters made their way round each table religiously.

Hi, we had the character tea back in June and I have to admit I was seriously underwelmed by the selection of food. I know it is a 'tea' but the only savoury items available that i can remember were hash browns, sausages, beans, egg. And a vast aray of sweets! I think the main reason I was disappointed was because it was so hot and we were off food anyway at the 5.30 seating.
I have to admit though, if we had that tea in winter, it would have been soo yummy!

Cheers all

The more questions I ask, the more excited I am getting :rotfl: (and this was supposed to be for the kids too!)

So we'll definately be booking the character birthday tea here for my little one and it will also be a wonderful surprise for my 5 year old. Mmmmmm endless choice of cakes and pastries sounds heavenly to me.

Cheers again.

The Character Tea Party at Plaza Gardens is the best value character interaction in the park, period.

True, it's just a 'tea' (clue in the name) but there are loads of characters and they all have their routes so no table is left out.

Personally, I think the food is a really good top-up. Afterwards you'll get round the park no problem. But I suspect you'll want a snack at McDonalds before heading back to the hotel.

Thats good to hear !! don't fancy the usual scrums lol:lmao:

This thread really made me think back you know -
My daughter didn't get any autographs inside the main Disney park, except the ones she got from the Character Tea Party at the Plaza Gardens. Everywhere else was just too much of a rugby scrum for her, and the queues at the stage in front of the castle were always really long.

She got loads at the studios, because they were so much quieter.

I think I will book the character tea instead of the breakfast. The one problem with the breakfast is that breakfast is already paid for and so as such miss out on a meal if you know what I mean. I too am getting excited :cheer2: :cheer2:

can you book for character teas and dinners when you arrive or do you have to book before you go

also if you can book while you are there where do you go

thanks alot

thank you for your reply

I think the characters may change on different days, but we had Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Captain Hook, Pinocchio, Gepetto, Prince John, Friar Tuck, Tigger, Eeyore, and a couple of others. In the hour that the tea party goes on for, the characters come out in 2 separate groups ie one group for the first half hour or so, then another group for the second half of the tea party.

We did the tea party this week. We booked when we were there at City hall. They gave us a slip of paper to show when we got there however we couldnt find it when we arrived and they couldnt find our name on the list but there were places available anyhow. You pay when you arrive if you have booked when there. (We got 10% off with our APs )

We thought it was really good value for money with a massive selection of both sweet and savoury food (loads of different types of cakes, croissants, cheese, pizza, sausages, omlette, hash browns, fruit salad, yoghurts etc etc)

There were a few birthday teas when we were there and they sang happy birthday to each separatly - they all seemed to get a cake and a cuddly Minnie. I must admit I didnt take much notice as I didnt know the birthday groups and most others were oblivious to it as well.
The only problem I can see with doing it as a birthday tea is having extra cake to eat!!!!!
Seriously though I walked past a few tables at the end with a half eaten birthday cake just left on the table. However one family had asked for it to be put back in the box and took it with them.

We saw about 9 characters who all came to our table for autographs and photos

that sounds really great!

Does anyone know if they have the free 'Birthday' badges, like at WDW?

Apparently not , i have enquired about this but they do not do it at DLRP unfortunately which is a shame.
