I have a few times. It can feel a bit wierd, but I decided that the characters are there for everyone and at least they don't have to kneel down for me. Go for it.
When I went October I spent most of my time standing in line for characters. I didn't once feel weird and was never treated any different. I even had home made autograph cards because I was trying to collect 100 character autographs for a school project.
I have a few times and think i can say that I love characters more than my kids The handlers were happy to take my pic and as i was waiting in line i didnt feel like I was doing anything i shouldnt, I took my turn like everyone else.
