My DD is a little nervous about meeting some of the costumed characters- does anyone have pictures of their little ones that you can post. I would like to show her that there is nothing to be worrird about! We leave in 2 days!!!! :cool1:

Thanks! :wave2:

depending on your dd's age, she may not be ready for all of the character interactions, especially the villians. The magic is that small kids really believe in the characters, so put yourself in her shoes and take it easy. She'll probably be ok with the princesses, but Jafar, for example, is huge and looks just like himself.
As you journey through the parks, you'll see the character areas going on. stop by and let her watch. As she gets older, it will become a different experience.
My DS is now 17 and DD 15; they've cycled in and out of wanting a character pose a few times now and I suspect it will happen again.
Let your DD go at her own pace with the characters. We've seen too many upset and sobbing kids that weren't allowed to do just that. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

How old is she? I was sure my 5.5 yr old DD would be terrified - after all, she never wants to have anything to do with Santa or the Easter Bunny - but she loved them all, face characters and costumed characters alike.

My DS who is three is terrified of anyone/thing in costume but when he saw the REAL Mickey there was no stopping him. I think that they get so excited that they forget about there fear. Maybe if he has a favorite that would be the one to find first?? I really dont know, I just hope that you have as good of an expierence as we did.

My daughter is 4 and up until this past christmas and easter she would never go up to santa or easter bunny but this year she did, i don't know if she will really be afraid or if she is just saying that for some extra attention (we have a 2 yr old daughter as well who is not afraid of anyone or anything- so far) I just thought seeing pics of other kids would make her see it is ok- we'll see what happens TUESDAY!
thanks for replies!

I don't know if you have enough time at this point -- but someone recommended to me when we went with DS (turned 3 that trip -- screamed bloody murder at Tony the Tiger character months before) several years ago to have him watch "Disneyland Fun" video. It is a Sing-Along songs video (quite an old one, I might add -- wish they'd come out with a newer version) that shows characters interacting with kids throughout Disneyland. Unlike most of the other sing-along songs videos, it is NOT animated. It gives the kids a feel for how big the characters will be and also shows the kids doing things with the characters. I do have a disclaimer though -- be aware that your child may think that the characters ride rides with ALL children after this video. Other than that, it was truly helpful for my son. Not to mention, it has some great songs and video of different attractions he refers back to now. If you have time, you may want to see if you could find it at the video store or your local library. If not, I agree with an earlier poster -- Mickey must be magical. He worked wonders on my easily-frightened son. DS's favorite part of the whole trip was collecting the autographs and finding characters.
