Character Performer Role: opinions?

hey everyone! this is my first post so hopefully i get this right. currently i am a junior in college & i plan on applying next semester to do the program fall 2013. i've read so many things about the character performer auditions, but i honestly cannot find too many opinions on the actual role itself. i know it gets really hot & that's the number one con, but is it worth trying to get over the other roles available?

any opinions are sooo highly appreciated

My girlfriend was a character performer in 2008 and loved it. You aren't out in the heat for a very long time and are given plenty of breaks. There are even signals that you can give if you're feeling sick or anything of the sort - just don't abuse it!
