Character Meet and Greet park opening

I'm rather ashamed to admit, but we have never managed to get to any Disney park for opening time

What happens?
Where about does it happen?
Stupid question, I know, but is it worth getting there in good time?

For most parks, they'll have characters out and about and when you go you can then meet them.

The main one is at MK where there is a little show at the front of the station and the family of the day open the park....it's quite cool to see.

We had never gone to a park openning (we're too bad at getting up early), but this year we did make opening of The Magic Kingdom and it was awesome - it was actually really moving and was just so "Disney". Well worth seeing.

Haven't made opening of any other park, except EPCOT but either we missed any hoopla or was just missed it by a few minutes.
