Anyone has reviews on the Universal Character Breakfast at La Bamba? Also the Grinch and Friends Breakfast? Do you have to book way in advance? Considering this for our trip this December... it will be DS2's first trip! :) TIA!

We did the Superstar Character Breakfast at La Bamba on April 29th.....it was FANTASTIC. We have done many Disney character meals and this one topped them all for value. The buffet was good though somewhat limited in options (pretty much your standard breakfast fare, though, with something for everyone.....eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, breakfast potatoes, biscuits, sausage gravy, fruit, pastries, muffins, etc.). Food was hot and plentiful, and the buffet staff were super friendly. If you are tall, though, watch the signage above the buffet stations....no word of a lie, my 6'3" DH almost knocked himself out on one.

The restaurant is bright, tables are nicely spaced so you don't feel like you are crammed in beside the next family, and the character interaction was SUPERB. So many characters too (eight in total).....one of the minions, Gru, EB and Fluffy from Hop, Dora & Diego, Spongebob Squarepants and Squidward Tentacles. The characters came multiple times to the table and were wonderfully informal and playful...even with our table of adults only. It was much more than a "stop for a picture and autograph and move on" character experience. Another great thing they did was have a TM accompany each character around to visit guests, and they would offer to take family pictures with your camera or iPhone, which I thought was a super nice touch.

The whole atmosphere was so much fun. They rotated the characters out quite quickly (about every 10 minutes) and as one set left, the other set returned. We were never rushed....in fact, we were encouraged to relax and enjoy as long as we wanted to stay. Every little while, the music would come on and the characters would just stop and dance.....with whomever wanted to join them for a quick boogie in the aisles.

The whole experience was very, very well run by the staff. There was a super fun and energetic TM with a microphone who really kept the party going (and politely but effectively ensure chaos didn't reign) while still keeping things on track.

As part of your character breakfast purchase, you also get premium parade viewing later in the day.

It was one of our most treasured experiences of a very epic trip. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Thanks for the great review @Gina-Gina-Bo-Bina :) This sounds great and my little one is a minion fan! Just a question, how far in advance did you book? I know you have to pre pay in full but not sure when to book...

It is a prepay event
You can book 30 days out or you could when I did the characters breakfast

Once I booked two days out for it

A friend gifted us the tickets. When they arrived by courier, I called and reserved our spot. It was maybe 30 or 45 days out? (I am pretty sure it was more than a month, but not by much)

Yes friends of ours booked when they arrived at PB for 2 days later........never seems to be full.

I never do the parks in December so have missed that grinch breakfast

Now that I have moved south, it's on my list

In years past, weather could be icy for me to plan a December trip out of Chicago or Milwaukee

Did one flight out of Milwaukee on a January 2 date once and bad weather delays

Heard the grinch breakfast is great so have that on my future list now

Hope op gets some answers as I would love to read about it
