Are there character meals and Universal and IOA like Disney? If so which characters and do you recommend these?

Each of the hotels have usually 2 nights where characters show up at their main resturants. Last year we were staying at RPH and when the Elevator doors opened Homer Simpson was standing there Kids kinda freaked out, but they were on their way to the Island Resturant.

there is always adults at the Islands when characters are there, and the foods excellent
