Looking at the various offerings we have been underwhelmed with meals appearing to offer a maximum of 4 characters.

As we are not big eaters in the morning I have discounted breakfasts, although they are a cheaper option if we change our minds and do one character meal.

As DS would have a major sulk Cinderella's Royal Table was discounted immediately.

Would you always include a character meal as part of a WDW trip ?
If so which one would you not miss and why :thumbsup2

I'm not sure I would say that we would always do a character meal, especially as we have only done them for the last 2 visits, but we wont cound them out just yet.
Our children will soon be too old for it anyway (24 & 10) so I can see a time in the not too distant future when we wont bother at all.
The only benefit we will see for getting a breakfast at MK would be to get the shot of the castle with an empty Main Street.

We would always do a character meal as we have a young daughter. Did you know that from about 22/05 to end of July there is a seasonal surcharge for buffet type meals of $4 per person.

Hi Reid :goodvibes

We like Crystal Palace with Tigger and co, one of our favourite characters is glum old Eeyore so thats one good reason why we like it but also the buffet IMHO is slightly above average, have had breakfast and lunch there but have never visited in the evening :)

We used to enjoy Hollywood and Vine in HS but as the characters have now changed it's not the same :sad2:

Hope this helps a little :goodvibes

Forgot to mention, we don't always do a character meal and rarely do the breakfast, like you we are not big eaters in the morning.

I think while the kids still want to we will do character meals. I'm 23 and I'm looking forward to seeing them myself, and my two are disney mad too so I can't see them ever saying they don't want to go lol.

On our last trip we did Cyrstal Palace for breakfast and I am not keen on doing one for breakfast again we don't eat enough at breakfast to make it worthwhile. We don't have a must do now, - DD favourite was LTT however that no longer has characters. There is none that really appeal now as I don't want to do breakfasts and most of the dinners are buffets and I don't really like buffets for dinner. I will book 1 or 2 in october though and they will be DD choice.

Had not realized about the surcharge :(

Thanks for everyone's replies :)

hi we always do chef mickeys although its always for breakfast and its fab, have done Grand Floridan for dinner, it featured Cinderella, Prince Charming and Fairy Godmother , and mice perla and suzie. it was really good too, food was lovely.

We really like the Garden Grill at Epcot it has Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale. The food is served family style and is all you can eat. We prefer it over buffets as you are always there when the characters come round :thumbsup2

Last time we ate there we saw some of the Characters 3 times as the restaurant is quite small. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We used to like LTT to but not going now they have taken the characters away :sad2:

I don't know whether its because I'm still a comparative newbie but I can't imagine a Disney trip without at least one character meal!! :rotfl:

We prefer lunch/dinner over breakfast but have had to do breakfasts because sometimes that's all that's been on offer. I take your point entirely about DS not wanting to eat at Cinderella's Royal Table!! :rotfl: I'm lucky in that having 3 DDs they all wanted to eat here.

We loved Donald's Breakfastosaurus, I know that the character breakfast has been moved to Tusker House now and given a new name but if it's anything like the old one it was great fun and I love Tusker House.

We loved 'Ohana breakfast at the Poly with Stitch. The food was absolutely delicious and it's nice to be served at the table.

We've eaten at the Garden Grill, on our first trip, it was really good and we're planning on going again next time. It brings back very happy memories because they used to do a wedding vow renewal where you had to kiss to the count of 100!! :scared1: :lmao: If you can get an outer table then you don't get anyone else in your photos. :thumbsup2

We've been to Crystal Palace twice for dinner, we really enjoyed it both times. The advantage of breakfast over lunch/dinner would be an empty Main Street if you get first timeslot but that went pear shaped for me when I booked Cinderella's early with this in mind and the monorail decided to break down!! :rotfl2:

We had booked Chef Mickey's for dinner for our last evening on our last trip but unfortunately DD fell ill and we had to cancel  so that is top of our list now.

DH wants to do the Supercalifragalistic etc etc breakfast at the Grand Floridian and I also like the sound of the Princess Storybook at Epcot.

If I had to choose just one then I think I'd go for Garden Grill as it is a revolving restaurant and all the food they serve is grown in The Land so a very different experience from other character meals, especially those at DLRP.

Thanks for the extra perspectives. You have given me much to talk to everyone about this :)

I think our favourite ever was at the Cape May Cafe, but they only do breakfast with characters (could you book a later sitting and treat it as a brunch??)

Failing that Chef Mickey's is always good fun, and of course the Crystal Palace (which I prefer to Chef Mickey's). If you book a late breakfast there, you pay breakfast prices but get some lunch dishes if you time it right ;)
