I'm in a bit of a pickle here, and I could really use some advice. how many of you have gone to character meals w/o kids? DH and I don't have any kids, I'm getting ready to make our ADRs, and...ugh. I just don't know what to do. DH has never been to WDW ( I know...:scared1: right?) and I think that character meals would be fun for the two of us, all the interaction, etc... however I feel badly taking a table away from a family with kids. ESPECIALLY CRT, I've always always wanted to eat there, but my guilty conscience is telling me to forget about it, especially after the horror stories I've heard about trying to get an ADR there....any advice would be helpful...what would you do? character meals or no character meals?:scared:

Hey, WDW is for EVERYONE, not just kids. If you thiink you would enjoy a character meal go for it! I experienced my first character meal with just my DH. We went to Crystal Palace for lunch and had a great time with Pooh and friends! The next trip we took DD.

My husband and I have no kids and we love the character meals. Go and have a good time and don't give it a second thought. Every table gets attention unless the diners wave them on, so don't worry about the kids.

I have ADR's at Princess Storybook and Chef Mickey and I'm not worried. I'm as much of a fan of the characters as the little kids. Now I just have to dig out my autograph book and have my camera ready. :lmao:

DH and I (in our 30's) ate at CP for our honeymoon. It was really nice.
You're not stealing any attention from other tables. The characters spend time at each table regardless.

I actually liked it better than waiting in lines in the parks. There I felt like I was "stealing" time from kids behind us.

Go and enjoy it.

I got the DDP this AM and called to make ADRs....we're going to CRT!!! I'm so excited I had to keep from crying while I was on the phone with the CM! I also have us going to the Ohana breakfast on our last day...I'm one of the few who actually LOVE stitch!:stitch2:
thanks for the advice everyone!!:thanks: :disrocks:

Definitely book a Character Meal...ESPECIALLY since your Husband has never been to WDW!! My Boyfriend and I ate at Cinderella's Castle and Liberty Tree Dining in February...and we are going back to WDW in May and we'll be having a Character Dinner at Chef Mickey's!! It's such a great thing to do and I feel it's better for us because we just want simple pictures with the Characters for our scrapbook and to hang around the house...and we don't want to have to wait in long long lines with tons of little children at the park...so this way the Characters come right to your table and you can just snap a quick picture!!

My friend and I always do them...were 36 and 37. We love Donald's Breakfastasoarous and the Crystal Palace. Great way to begin your days at the parks!

DH and I dont have any kids but we love going to character meals, we do a few every trip...would not be a trip to WDW without one!

DH and I did character meals on our honeymoon. Have Fun! :)

My DH and I did a bunch of char meals when we were there on our honeymoon and we had a blast!!

We did
Crystal Palace (twice for breakfast and once for dinner)
H&V - breakfast
Donalds - breakfast
1900 Park Fair - dinner
CRT - breakfast

I have also done a few by myself

Ohana's - breakfast
CP - breakfast

It beats standing in long lines at the meet and greets in the parks, even though I am guiltly of that too, I just can not get enough!!

:rotfl:

I am 54 years old and I am worst than any kid when it comes to characters. I must have over 100 pictures of myself and my DH with charaters. And that is just from one trip last year!

Two autograph books full also.

I always do as many character dinings as I can. Trust me, no one will even notice, because secretly, parents make the reservasions for their kids just so "they" can get a hug! ;)
