You'll see lots of good reviews and a few bad or so-so, but in general I think you can't miss with a character meal, the kids are bound to have a great time! If you ask for a favorite character meal, every single one will be mentioned, so I take that as a good sign.
Our experiences with the character meals:
I was told by a CM that Goofy's Kitchen is by far the most popular, so make sure to book that one in advance, especially if you are going at a busier time. We've done GK dinner twice, and loved it both times. Good variety of food, lots of kids selections in the buffet. Lots of characters, lively character interaction. Some characters come through quickly, others linger and chat with the kids, draw pictures on the paper tablecloth, and just really make it special for the kids.
The Princess meal has had good and bad reviews here, mainly for the food and service. This is the only one we haven't tried yet, and DS3 and I are going to give it a whirl in a few weeks.
Minnie and Friends seemed very busy, busier than the other 2 character breakfasts we attended. Standard breakfast fare, nice and hot. Some children were up and running about chasing characters instead of sitting in their seats, which seems better controlled at the other locations. We went hoping to see DS3's favorite Pooh characters which often appear there, and were lucky!
Lilo & Stitch was another great one. Good breakfast food, including omelets, waffles and more Asian-Pacific fare. Try the pineapple scone with pineapple jam! Minnie loved my DS3 (2yo at the time), she hugged and hugged him, and I worried after a bit that she wasn't gonna give him back!
Stitch is hilarious, clowning around with the kids. We had an early seating so it wasn't that busy at first; the characters came around and stopped a 2nd or even a 3rd time at our table, even knowing they'd already met my kids. I loved that, and the kids ate it up!
Brother Bear breakfast was actually more fun than I expected. It was quiet, in a beautiful restaurant, and yummy food! (We paid an arm and a leg for 2 tiny bowls of cereal for DS7, though, OUCH!) The animal characters of course don't speak, but communicate very well with hand gestures and hugs. Even though my kids weren't familiar with some of the characters, they loved them all the same.
