My DFi and I are going on our honeymoon to WDW, so there will be no children with us. I'm going to post this on the Adult & Solo Travelers Board but I wanted to see what you all thought as well. Should we do a character meal? I'm just wondering if it will be strange to interact with charcters while there are no kids with us. Will they come over to us? What do you think?

congratulations on your honeymoon!! we always do at least one character meal while at wdw. it is usually just my husband and me. one we really enjoy is donald's breakfastasarous at AK. another good one for honeymooners/anniversary celebrants is cinderella's breakfast. usually you are seated at the "honeymoon table." great view of fantasyland. the character interaction is always the same~great. another fun thought, although not a character meal, is the HDD. be sure to mention on all the PS you will be on your honeymoon. :earboy2:

Thank you Disney Queen for the suggestions. Although Cindy's breakfast sounds great, we have decided to eat all our breakfasts at the foodcourt of A-SS. Do you have any suggestions for character meals that are for lunch or supper?

Ali

liberty tree tavern in MK serves a family style character dinner. the characters are in colonial attire. chef mickey at the contemp serves dinner. and at the GF is a princess dinner at the 1900 Park Faire. :earboy2:

Dh and I have no kids and have done character meals at Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. I STRONGLY recommend doing Crystal Palace. It was a really nice restaurant, great food and Winnie the Pooh is so cute! Don't feel weird about it, I always run up to character lines like a kid too. Just do what you want and have fun...the characters will come to you at your table too.

I have kids now but before i had my sister and i would go to WDW soemtimes and we would do character meals. The characters interact with all the guests at least thats what i have seen. We loved the Garden Grill in Epcotits closed now for renovations but schedualed to reopen in a few months.

My wife and I honeymooned last September. I booked a few character meals just because I wanted to try the restaurants, and COMPLETELY forgetting about the fact that they WERE character meals!

We had a FANTASTIC time!

We did Cape May Café for breakfast and Garden Grill for lunch, and we had a blast! At the Garden Grill, the servers thought that we were cast members cause Pluto spent so much time with us! :)

Don't worry about it. The characters don't care, and neither should you.

Do you think we could make PS's when it's time for when the Garden Grill reopens?

Ali

I don't see why not. As long as you're at the 90 day point, and the restaurant will be open! :)

I recommend the Crystal Palace for breakfast. Make sure to get an early PS (around 8:05 am), that way you can enter the MK before it opens and be the first ones in line. The food is great and the characters are a lot of fun! Chef Mickey's is also a really fun place to go for breakfast. Nothing's better than spending time with Mickey. :wizard:

5 of us (all adults) greatly enjoyed the PSB in Norway last May and had a great time! There were LOTS of adult only parties there, the table over was just a single middle aged woman =) The characters come to each and every table, we snapped pictures, got them to sign a postcard for my niece, and thanked them for their time. We almost had more fun watching the little ones around us interact with the princesses.

The PSB has been extended through lunch hours now - Im a huge fan of breakfast ones, because you won't need to eat again until dinner so it saves tons of money, plus the food courts are crazy busy and not very good anyways. We either eat a quick bite on the way to the parks (poptart, donut, etc) and have a big lunch (to save $), or eat a big breakfast, quick snack midafternoon, and dinner. We had (what was at the time) the last seating, and it was 11am - which is practically lunch. Even now, you can get later seatings and make it lunch.

1900 Park Faire is another good one, with Cindy and Friends- that's a dinner, and the GF is just gorgeous. Completely depends on what characters you enjoy. We enjoy the face characters the most, like the Princesses, Alice, Mary Poppins, etc so choose those instead.

We've never felt out of place, quite the opposite, and a had a good time.

I do these on every trip w/o kids. They are a blast!
We've done 1900 Park Faire (Beast, Belle, Genie, and Jasmine...this was in 2000) for Dinner, Garden Grill lunch in 2000 (Mickey, Chip, Dale), Cindy's breakfast in 2001 (Cindy, Snow White, Aurora, Belle, and Mary Poppins), Donald's breakfast in 2003 (Donald, Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy), and 'Ohana breakfast in 2004 (Mickey, Chip, Dale, and Goofy).

My favorites so far are Garden Grill and 'Ohana. I wouldn't recommend Donald's in AK. While I really enjoyed Cindy's breakfast, I won't go back simply because it's inconvenient trying to get the PS!

On our next trip we plan on doing Chef Mickey's, haven't been there yet.

Hi Ali,

Congrats on your up coming wedding. DH and I went to breakfast at CRT our last trip. Just us, no children. It was fun. We enjoyed it a lot. When I was checking in a man was checking in beside me. He was probably in his 50s and had his mom and dad with him. He said his father really wanted to have breakfast with Cinderella. Said he had been on his cell phone driving down the interstate at 5:00AM his time trying to get the ressies. I thought that was sweet.

All the princesses were very nice to us. Snow White (I think it was snow) even said "It's nice when the big kids come to breakfast". That was sweet and put us at ease.

Make your plans, PS, and HAVE FUN

Go and have a great time. My husband and I do Chef Mickey's for dinner on the last night of each of our trips. We also enjoyed breakfast at 1900 ParkFare in the past. The characters will interact with you as much as your like. In the begining we took pictures and now they come over and will "kiss" my hand or give me a hug and my husband always gets a kiss from Minnie. Go enjoy yourself.

You will all be happy to know that my DFi and I have decided to give one of the character meals a try. It is on the official PS's to make list. We're going with lunch at Crystal Palace. I love Winnie the Pooh and the gang and DFi was very happy about the menu. :) I'll have to see what all this hype is about. Should be fun. Thanks all for helping us decide.

My DH and I got engaged at a character meal and it was so fun! We got a lot of attention from the characters. It was the Cape May Cafe for breakfast.
Have a great time!

I think lunch at Crystal Palace is a wonderful choice. That is what I would have suggested. Before kids, my husband and I always went to a couple character meals per trip. Of course, now that we have kids, we have it all scoped out and know just where to go. CP is one of our must-do's for the food. And the characters are great. Have fun and congrats on your marriage!!
