Character Meal

Ooooh that's a hard one for me. Breakfast would have to be Cape May for the food & Ohana for the characters. Dinner would have to be 1900 Park Fare for the characters and Garden Grill for the food.

Thanks! I will keep that in mind. I have only done a character meal once @ Akershus with the princesses. My youngest loves Mickey, Donald, and Goofy and we were hoping to have a meal with those. Ohana sounds fun... maybe we will try that.

My favorite is Akershus breakfast for the food and Crystal Palace for the character interaction. I will certainly have more character dining experience after next trip. I have 10 character ADRs. :scared1:

I'd say my top three are probably Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace and Garden Grill.

If you want to see Mickey, Goofy & Donald, there are 2 options where you can see all of them: Chef Mickey's (breakfast, dinner) has Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto & Donald or Tusker House (breakfast) has Donald, Daisy, Mickey & Goofy.

FWIW, our favorite character meals are Crystal Palace (breakfast), Chef Mickey's (breakfast) and Ohana (breakfast).

JoePa- you always give great advice- we are going for 6 days 5 nights on our first trip- right now we have scheduled CP (8:05am), Akershus (day we fly out) AND Tusker all for breakfast- should we change one (would have to be CP) to dinner- if its CP for dinner then we would move it so that it would be our first meal in Disney (instead of eating there on our third day)!!!

First, thanks for the compliment - I'm glad you find my posts helpful. I wouldn't change your adrs at all - there are really no bad character meals for breakfast. We've found the character meals with dinner buffets to be rather sup-par (for the food) so we generally avoid them. CP @ 8:05 is a great adr - the brkfst buffet is good (puffed french toast :worship:), you get in MK early on a non-emh day & you should be done in time for rope drop. Akershus is also good - not one of our favorites that we would schedule every trip, but it is good, nonetheless. Tusker House is probably our least favorite just because we've had poor character interaction there and we haven't enjoyed the atmosphere BUT don't change it because I'm in the minority regarding Tusker House - you should have a great time there.

Ooh.. Tough one. I really have two favorites. 'Ohana for the Best Friend's Breakfast and Garden Grill for dinner with Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. We have had such great, great meals at both locations. My daughter had her first meet and greet with any characters at her 1st birthday dinner at Garden Grill. It was fantastic! As we were being walked to our table my daughter saw Pluto and squealed. Pluto saw this and stopped to give her a quick hug.

'Ohana was also really great. Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch. It's such a fun breakfast and the food is wonderful. The kids get to participate in a fun little parade around the restaurant with the characters. Our little girl was too small and our teenage son was content just to watch, but come next year I'm sure we'll join in the parade fun. :lmao: It's a great chance to meet characters without the chaos of a buffet (same with Garden Grill)..

We also really enjoy Crystal Palace, but we didn't do it this past trip since our little girl likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse more than My Friends Tigger and Pooh. We'll be back for breakfast there next year. It's a great place to have breakfast before stepping out and enjoying the Magic Kingdom. The characters are great and we enjoy the food.

Whatever you pick, I'm sure you will have fun! Good luck and enjoy planning! :goodvibes

It's hard for me to decide which one is my favorite, so I'll list them both.

1. Crystal Palace - Has an excellent variety of food on the buffet and I can see TIGGER!

2. Garden Grove at the Swan (On Monday & Friday nights) - Good seafood buffet and I can see TIMON!!

That is a great question:
1) Akershus - great character interaction, nice picture that is included as part of the meal, and you get a cold buffet/pick an entree/family style dessert (the best of all worlds).
2) Chef Mickey because the main characters (Mickey, Donald, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto) are always there.
3) Crystal Palace good character interaction and pretty good food right in the Magic Kingdom.

Crystal Palace is great! The food isn't the best in the parks, but there is a variety and it's not horrible! It's in such a convienent location. And who doesn't want to personally meet the entire Pooh crew! They keep circling the entire restaurant one by one and spend enough time at each table to get pictures and sign any auto books you have. I had a great time here.

I'm also dying to try Chef Mickey's breakfast though!! :thumbsup2

Our favorites were Crystal Palace (for lunch or dinner) and Akershus for breakfast. Character interaction at both was great and the food was good too.

Crystal Palace (Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet) - quality of lunch and dinner food is excellent, especially for a buffet. the cold salads are a great variety, the salmon and carved meats are delicious! Plus, this is a great place for lunch as my experience is DS is not too excited about stopping all the MK fun rides to sit for a boring lunch, but he doesn't mind stopping for CP. I'll eat at CP 2 or 3 times in one trip. Pooh leads a little parade for the children.

Ohana Breakfast (Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch) -- yummy food and it's family style so you don't have to get up from the table. the pineapple coconut bread is to die for. Kids fun, a little parade with music. great character interaction at the table... and it will be hard to find Lilo and Stitch anywhere else at WDW.

1900 Park Fare Breakfast (Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter, Tigger and Pooh) - again, very hard characters to find elsewhere. All were awesome. Mary Poppins is always true to character and will sing supercalifragilistic, etc... the mad hatter is, well... MAD CRAZY! Sure to be a hit with the recent movie release. And we loved the food here, much more than the standard breakfast food and very delicious... here you can have lobster eggs benedict or have a custom made omelet.

Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House (Donald, Daisy, Mickey, Goofy) - Nice character interaction at table, but crowded here (it's popular), but we had breakfast 1 hour before park opening and finished right at the moment the park opened -- and we were already in! The food here was very delicious and quite a few items that were different from your usual breakfast food.

CRYSTAL PALACE- The breakfast is amazing. We tried it once and it is a must do for every trip now. As much as I love Pooh. I really go for the breakfast lasagna.

1900 Park Fare- I love the Step-Sisters. But, I would go just for the dessert and strawberry soup.

Chef Mickey's was a little loud and overstimulating for my taste but the way my kids reacted to the characters made it all worthwhile. We also really enjoyed breakfast at 1900 Park Faire. I wish Disney offered some non-buffet character meals.

I would add another vote for Crystal Palace for breakfast. Also Tusker house has a good breakfast and you can see Mickey, Daisy, Goofy, and Donald (although there is discussion on here that he may not be there anymore:sad2:).
