We're going to Disney during free dining and I would like to make some ADRs (when the window opens to actually make them - just planning at this piont) for character meals as my boys really enjoy this. I thought I'd give you an idea of where we've been and see what you could suggest for us on this trip.

A bit about us: it will be DS4 (5 for the trip, DS2, DMIL, DH and myself. DS4 is allergic to eggs, peanuts, shellfish, garlic along with animals, grass, mold, ect (17 things in all! :scared1:). We've always been able for him to find something to eat thankfully. Now his garlic allergy is not bad - he was able to eat at The Plaza and have the spagetti sauce without having a problem. The main things we worry about with him are the peanuts and shellfish. He's generally ok with the eggs if they're cooked in something like a cake for example. No other allergies. I'm just a generally picky eater. I stick with steak, hamburgers (bacon cheeseburgers to be exact) and chicken fingers/grilled chicken when eating out to be "safe". I know we're weird! :goodvibes I generally try to do the character thing for breakfast as that's when my boys are in the best moods.

Where we've eaten:
Chef Mickeys - liked this during our first ever trip to Disney. (breakfast)
Hollywood and Vine - we had lunch here on our first trip to Disney as well. DS4 liked it because of the characters but we didn't think the food was that great
Crystal Palace - just ate here in Feb and LOVED it for breakfast. I actually bought a cook book and make the puffed french toast at home!
CRT - ate here in Dec and loved it for breakfast. The boys - especially DS2 - loved the princesses (I know....I was surprised but thankful for a princess meal!!) and actually ate the food. I'd like to eat here but think I'm out of luck since the 180 days has already passed for this...
Coral Reef - we had lunch here both in Sept last year and Feb this year. It's a fun atmosphere but I haven't been impressed with the food.
Tusker House - love the jungle juice at breakfast time. We've eaten here on two trips - both in Sept and Dec last year. I would make ressies here again to be in AK prior to opening and for the food/juice!
GFC - we've eaten lunch here last Sept and dinner here in Feb this year. It's ok but I'm not in love with the food. Sept we picked it because I wanted a cake from the GF and in Feb we just needed someplace that had availability for our group.
Sci-Fi - we ate dinner here in Dec. The food was ok but not something I would go out of my way for again.

So hopefully that gives you an idea of the places we've eaten on some of our previous trips. Like I said, I would like to do two - three character meals during free dining (we're thinking the end of Sept/beginning of October). My boys generally eat breakfast the best and are best behaved at breakfast so I try to have the character meals at that time so everyone's happy as possible! :goodvibes

Any suggestions you could provide to our family would be so greatly appreciated!! I know "our" characters don't have any meals (McQueen and Mater) so there's really no one we "have to" eat with - we just do it to see the characters so we're not spending time in the parks trying to hunt them down.

'ohana is a great character breakfast and would be my suggestion. The food is quite good and the characters are very interactive. Here's a review

also very good is the Royal Akerhsus Princess breakfast in Norway but I don't know if that would interest your boys.

However, the princesses were excellent, and stayed with my son & daughter for awhile. Plus, you get a big set of free pics with Belle. Very nice complimentary gift

As an aside, your boys may enjoy the new T-Rex Cafe quite a bit. Its a great place for kids. And I liked it. I thought it was much better than the very mediocre Rain Forest Cafe

I would also suggest 'Ohana! It's great food & the character interaction is awesome. We're dining there again this July.

Hey newtodis!

I recognize your name from the J&K thread!

I think Ohana is our family's favorite character breakfast! It's very lively and fun, they do a parade around the restaurant too. Characters here are AWESOME! Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto.:thumbsup2 Food is really good here. They bring out this amazing sticky pineapple bread to start. Then they bring around Mickey Waffles (I know you call ahead 48 hours I believe to request allergy free ones) and after a huge platter of eggs, potatoes, biscuits, bacon and sausage. Oh, and there's fresh fruit as well. Man, now I'm hungry!

My other family's favorite was Hollywood & Vine for breakfast. The buffet here was delicious and we loved the Art Deco style of the restaurant. Characters here were Jojo and Goliath and June and Leo from Little Einsteins. They spent loads of time at the tables and my girls loved it!

Lastly, we loved the Crystal Palace breakfast too! Especially since my kiddos love Winnie the Pooh! :goodvibes

If you liked the Jamba juice from Tusker House breakfast, you will LOVE the polynesian juice at Ohana. Tastes the same and it's goooood!

Also, CRT is now 90 days for ADR's so you're not past the window of opportunity! :goodvibes

Good Morning! :goodvibes Yup...it's me from the J&K thread! :goodvibes

Thank you all for the Ohana suggestion. I think that one's going to be on the list for sure! I'll certainly call ahead about the allergies (I also have a form from Disney that I can fill out and email or fax to them which helps so much!!)

I think we're going to try and do Crystal Palace again too. I LOVED being in the MK before the park opens! It was amazing to have a picture of the castle without hundreds of thousands of people in front of it.

If you liked the Jamba juice from Tusker House breakfast, you will LOVE the polynesian juice at Ohana. Tastes the same and it's goooood!

Well that's good to know about the juice!

WOW really - I didn't know that about CRT. I would love to take DMIL there just once! I think she would really enjoy it!

Thank you all so much for your help and suggestions! I really appreciate it!

We have tried most, and our favorite is Chef Mickey's wihout a doubt.
