If you could only do one - character meal or the fanstasmic buffet which would you do.

We have done the character meals but not the buffet
On this trip we will be taking DH, DD (19) DSiL (19), DS (17), DGD (4), and DGS (1).

Oh - I'd definately do the buffet. There are characters all over the parks - you can't go 5 minutes without seeing them. But the buffet would be a once in a lifetime experience. Originally, according to the hiddenmickey website, the show was designed for optimum viewing from that balcony. That - the deserts, and not haveing to fight the crowds, would make the buffet divine! Have fun!

If you've done character meals and are looking for something special, then the Fantasmic Buffet would be it. It will cost you about twice as much as a dinner at Goofy's ($600 vs. $300ish). But the prime seating without a wait and the desserts - could make up for the cost difference.

$600 for a meal??!?!?

What am I missing?

I don't even get the $300 'cheap' one. How much does it cost to eat at DL now?

And btw, what do the acronyms DH, DS, DD, etc. stand for? I'm guessing the later letters are Son, Daughter, Granddaughter, etc, but what's the D? The only other time I saw them used it stood for "Dancing".

As for the choice between the buffet or a character meal, for me that would depend on when you are going. If its extremely crowded, then I would go for the Fantasmic buffet. We won't watch Fanstamic if we have to stake out a spot 2 hours ahead. However if its only moderately crowded, there is a spot near the Tom Sawyer dock that most people ignore, so you can usually get a good view from there about 30 minutes prior to the show.

The Fantasmic buffet is $53 per person vs a character meal that will run about $25 depending on what you choose.

Thanks!

And I've never seen a buffet for $53 before, wow.

Also keep in mind that it is just dessert, not a meal. You are really paying for the location, not so much the food.

Okay, so $50 to save two hours of standing around waiting...that's a more reasonable way to look at it. Might be worth it for a couple, but for a family that gets too pricey for my wallet.

Thanks.
